“Babies were born, people got married, people got divorced, people died, people were hired, fired, quit, homes were bought, expensive cars were leased, tears were shed, harsh words were spoken, fear dread, resentment, jealousy, frustration, and rage came and went like clouds in the sky. The only constant was laughter. We laughed a lot. We hope you did too. From everyone at The Big Bang Theory, thank you for watching. Oh, I almost forgot. Bill Prady went on a food delivery system, lost 20 pounds, and started tucking in his shirt” – Chuck Lorre Productions, #374.

Leonard and Penny fans, rejoice! Your favorite ship has NOT sunk. In its 100th episode (Happy 100th episode, everybody!), The Big Bang Theory did not aim to be funny, it aimed to resurrect a relationship that has been dead for two years, or so we thought.

In the beginning of the episode, Leonard asks Penny out on a date, and surprisingly, she says okay. Their date, however, takes a turn for the worse when Leonard asks Penny if she thinks they’re gonna get back together and she replies that she’ll always have feelings for him. We all know what “always” means. It’s not positive, at all. And Leonard knows that. So they end up arguing, always.

In the middle of the night, Penny calls Leonard and takes him to her room. No talking allowed. After their night together, they agree not to tell anyone about their relationship until they’re sure what this relationship really means. (Oh, c’mon, Penny. You’ve been trying to find out what this relationship really is for the last 5 years.)

The group goes out to dinner and Penny waits on them. But when Leonard mentions “always” again trying to prove his point, Penny loses her nerves and they have yet another fight. When they return home, Penny, once again, calls Leonard at night so he can meet her out in the hall.

She tells him he’s a jerk and shouts at him. Pissed at her,She tells him he’s a jerk and shouts at him. Pissed at her, Leonard heads to Penny’s apartment “not to talk” , if you know what I mean, because that’s what they’ve been doing lately whenever they have a fight. As they’re kissing, Leonard tells Penny that every time he imagines he and Penny are together, it always ends badly.

And then we discover, he’s been daydreaming the whole episode while staring at Penny as she hangs out with the girls. He heads over to her and asks her out.

“Have you thought this through?” she asks.
“Yes, and I think we should go out, anyway,” he replies.

I did not get why they made it a daydream if he’s gonna ask her out again. When I discovered he was dreaming, I quickly assumed he’s gonna move on and not ask her out. It just didn’t work for me.

The rest of the episode was basically filled with sexual innuendos and jabs at Zachary Quinto who plays Spock in Star Trek, the movie.

To be honest, I had higher expectations for the episode, it is the 100th episode, after all. I expected the whole gang to do something epic, something like the time they dressed up as superheroes on New Year’s Eve. I expected them to do something hilariously nerdy because, let’s face it, that’s why we fell in love with them. We fell in love with the group as a whole, so I don’t get why they turned such a momentous episode into a relationship episode. We could have had a Lenny reunion in any episode, but they chose to do it in the 100th which is kind of disappointing.

The only characters involved in the episode were basically Leonard and Penny. All the others had a few lines and a few jokes. Raj, once again, was banished in the background which pisses me off. Let’s give him a storyline, please? Thank you.

Favorite quotes from the episode:

Sheldon: “I love my mind.”

Bernadette: (When she realizes that she’s going to have to double date with Sheldon and Amy if Leonard and Penny don’t work out) “Change of clothes! We got a lot riding on this!” (To Penny)

Raj: “If they ever make a movie version of that book, you know who should play Leonard’s mother? Sandra Bullock.”
Howard: “Why?”
Raj: “Because she’s great in everything!”

Penny: (Pretending that they’re on a first date) What are you some kinda nerd?
Leonard: “Not some kinda nerd, I’m the KING of nerds!”

Leonard: (About Penny and her ex) “If you didn’t talk, what’d you…Wait, stupid question.”
