So this was the final episode/week where relationships or break-ups were the forefront for the entire episode. Since Robin and Nick were forced to start having conversations with each other, rather than doing other activities, Robin realized that her boyfriend wasn’t that smart and I mean thought a candle was food dumb. Which led her to the realization that she had to break-up with him. After when she tried to break it off, she ended up getting distracted by Nick in all his shirtless glory, and I can kind of understand where she’s coming from, I mean he’s been really nice to look at for the last couple of episodes. Anyways after telling the group of her failure to call it off Barney came up with an incentive for her to call it off, a website invited everyone to Robin and Patrice’s BFF fun day (which is definitely a HIMYM thing to do). This makes Robin pretty angry because she is not Patrice’s biggest fun, because of her whole obsession over her friendship with Robin and all. But in the end Robin decided that she needed to end things with Nick and took him to the famous break-up restaurant “Splitsville” which this episode is named after.

At Splitsville she attempts to break-up with him multiple times but unfortunately he is just too stupid to understand a simple “I think we should stop seeing each other” by replying with “you want to turn the lights off when we do it” and I’m sorry but in Robin’s word’s “He dumb”.  He then gets a call, which is implied to be horrible news, but is in fact news that he will not be able to play in Marshall’s Basketball team anymore (but will get this this whole situation later). Robin then calls the group from the washroom and tells them that she can’t do, making Barney tell her that if she doesn’t he’ll send out the invite. So over speaker phone she tries once again to break-up with Nick, but he tells her that the doctor give him the okay to have sex again, so he begins kissing her, and I was just wondering what they were planning to do, have sex right there in the middle of the restaurant. However, while everyone is still on speaker phone, Barney says he can’t hear this and leaves the apartment, Ted gets uncomfortable and Lily gets a little too into it (which I will, once again talk about later).  As Robin and Nick are about to basically go for it, Barney comes enters and declares his love for Robin in one of the most heartfelt speeches he has ever given. It was so sincere and amazing, that it had me jumping for joy and will probably become one of my favorite HIMYM scenes of all time. Nick then asks Robin about this and she says that everything Barney said is true, so they break – up and Nick goes off with two other brokenhearted girls, which really riled up Lily in more ways than one. Once everything has calmed down, Barney and Robin leave the restaurant and talk about what he did and said, to which he just said that he only did this so she could get out of the relationship and it meant nothing. I’m sorry but the way he spoke and looked at Robin you, me and Robin all know that this declaration of love meant a lot more to both of them. But in that moment, when they are about to kiss, Robin gets a phone call from Patrice’s about their BFF fun day, upsetting me, because phone call keep interrupting their little “moments’. I know that I said I really liked how they went about the Ted- Victoria break-up, but this is my favorite of all three because this is the obvious first step for how they are going to repair the Barney-Robin relationship.

I’m going to end my Robin-Barney excitement and talk about the more funny moments of the episode, which were Lily and Marshall’s scenes this week. Lily was just hilarious with her obsession over Robin’s sex life and her little fantasies that always seems to include some random made up girl named Nadia.  I loved how intense she got, as she always does about anything to do with sex. Marshall kind of had his own storyline going on, which was about his Basketball team of Lawyers and Nick his star player and the reason he wanted to relationship to work out. He was really in shape and got pretty intense as Lilly did with winning the Basketball championships and exercising. Obliviously something was going on with those two, which we found out later that they hadn’t had sex since Marvin was born. Enabling Ted to take Marvin for the day so that the two of them could have alone time, which didn’t take to long for them to get started.

Ted didn’t have that big of a role or story this episode, he just talked about his own basketball team’s, which wasn’t doing so well. I think that a lot of his story will be pretty filler for the rest of the season with the occasional life changing event because we know he probably won’t get into another serious relationship until the mother. Overall this was a pretty solid episode and I’m glad the autumn of break-ups is over so we can get to the point, where Robin and Barney are finally together and Ted can finally after 8 seasons meets the mother.

What did you think of this episode? Which relationship are you sad ended? Are you excited as I am for the Robin – Barney relationship to begin, again?
