GCB 1.01 ‘Pilot’ & 1.02 ‘Hell Hath No Fury’ review: Everything’s bigger… and bitchier in Texas

I apologize for taking super long to get this review up, but, I’ve been a bit of a slacker lately. I’ll be sure to be prompt this week. Bad McKenzie.

CGB, a.k.a. Good Christian Bitches, is Desperate Housewives meets Mean Girls (an aged version) in Texas. Not the most original idea, but how could you hate anything that has Kristin Chenoweth in it? I know that the show has been getting some flak over the soap opera like content, but after the first two episodes, I can safely I’m hooked.

It’s a bit raunchy, but I assume that’s why they put it in the 10pm time slot and abbreviated its “foul language” full titled counterpart. Not to mention it would have had the word Christian in it… so, you know the crazy Jesus loving folk would have red flagged it and been all over it like a monkey on a cupcake criticizing how it portrays their oh so lovely image in a negative way. Don’t get me wrong, I’m religious, but… sometimes people just want to cause trouble for the sake of it.

Anyways, the episodes were jam packed with witty one-liners, pretty decent yet expected storylines and a well-balanced cast. It’s one of those guilty pleasure shows. I almost peed my pants when the opening scene of the Pilot was the main characters husband running off with a bunch of cash only to meet his demise in a car crash caused by… receiving oral sex.

I’m not sure this show will survive more than a season or two, but if you haven’t watched, please do so. It’s one hour of giggles and mindless entertainment, which let’s face it, all of us need once in a while (a.k.a. Sunday nights at 10).

What do you think? Does GCB give Christian women a bad name? Give Texas a tainted reputation now that they breed bitches? Will you be watching next week? Let me know in the comment section below.
