Hey remember those pesky little demon worms that ultimately led Nick to his demise after possessing Melissa? Well, they’re back! In this weeks episode of The Secret Circle, we get introduced to some REAL danger.
Jake and former fellow witch hunter Samuel get into a bit of a tiff after Samuel stumbles upon Chance Harbor while fleeing from Eben (who seems to be a bit looney toons these days). Samuel gets thrown around a bit, courtesy of Cassie’s dark magic. (Way to make your boy toy feel less like a man) And Samuel reveals he has a message for Blackwell: that Eben is resurrecting Demons, which means, dare I say it… we’re on the verge of Nick’s return!
Cassie is still struggling with the fact that the potion didn’t work on her, she’s still very much in love with Adam, who basically wants nothing to do with her now. I mean how dare he… after all they’ve been through: spell sex, a forest full of floating dewdrops and dead birds post whoopee… it’s kind of funny, yet heartbreaking to see the roles reversed… the chased becomes the chaser.
Adam comes crawling back to Diana with his tail between his legs, and is stopped in his tracks by an Australian bloke sending Diana… ginger ale? Ha, I guess it’s the thought that counts—seeing as they are 16 and underage. Adam is all “it’s not wise to date random dudes who might be evil,” and Diana respectfully gives him an “eff you, I’m going to get my mack on.”
Grant takes Diana to what seems to be an abandoned skating rink (where are the rest of the residents of Chance Harbor?) Grant has jimmied the lock (delinquent) and refers to their activities as “Ice Dancing.” I can’t even touch that one— must be Australian etiquette. They play some tonsil hockey—see what I did there? And Grant rants and raves about his yacht and how he hates his father. Perfect first date discussion.
Adam recruits Faye and Melissa to help with a party for the school’s hockey team… wow, they still go to school? I don’t think we’ve seen them there since Valentine’s Day, must be on break or something ;). Melissa wants to show up Faye and her man macking skills so she and Adam do some magic to impress some dude named Kyle. Adam feeds Melissa some jargon about hockey in this weird ventriloquist scenario that freaked me out (on Adam’s end) and made me proud (on Melissa’s end) all that the same time. Naturally Faye isn’t haven’t any of that and retaliates by making Adam channel some magic through her too—landing her a double bullseye in the presence of Kyle, who turns out has a girlfriend. DOG! Cue irrational Adam, who becomes enraged at the sight of a guy two-timing his “friends” and decks him in the kisser! Sticking up for your own, well done Adam. You girls have got to stick together.
Cassie tries to wrangle up the circle after getting wind that Eben is trying to unleash some powerful evil, (that Blackwell tried resurrecting 16 years ago). Oh, and we find out that Eben is DEFINITELY working with “a witch” from Blackwell’s circle. My theory is it’s Charles… he seems pretty set on taking down Blackwell so why not work with the witch hunters in addition to Granny Blake? The more obvious choice is Ethan. Oh, or Melissa’s parents—why haven’t we met them yet. Poor girl.
Diana surprises Grant at the docks to take him up on his “I’ll show you my big boat” line from earlier at the rink, only to find he’s been lying to her about owning a boat. Oh my, call it all off Diana, he’s… dare I say it… poor! A pissed off Diana storms off telling Grant to stay the hell away from her. He’ll be back.
We see Diana in a coffee shop on the verge of last call sipping, sulking, and hating the world. Her phone’s ringing, but she’s just not interested. Cue Cassie. Diana gives her some lip for about 2 minutes and is later convinced to come help save the circle! To the groups surprise they’ve been stood up, and Blackwell isn’t at the abandoned house. He’s gone off on his own with Samuel to stop Eben from resurrecting the demons. But surprise! Samuel has the demon worms in him. Eben shows up out of nowhere and knocks John out, oh no he didn’t!
The circle tracks Blackwell down in the middle of nowhere, thank goodness for lojack, and Jake stupidly breaks the circle John drew earlier around his demon friend to keep him in one place. Way to go, dumbass. No worries, your emasculating love interest Dark Magic Barbie to the rescue! She lights Samuel on fire, only for him to absorb that power and lifts her while choking her. I’m pretty sure it’s in Britt Robertson’s contract that she must be choked in every episode. Cue Daddy waking up from his catnap. Blackwell blows up Samuel with… get this, MAGIC! Oh snap, we knew he be hiding his powers. Cassie doesn’t look pleased that her father has been lying to her this whole time, and the circle is just as shocked in their huddle. Why are they standing so close to each other? Must have been a tight shot or something. Eben takes in a bunch of the wormy demons, and flees the scene.
So, basically the circle did minimal crime fighting this episode seeing as the villain got away with a bunch of demonic tadpoles. They retreat to the abandoned house where John gives them a magical peptalk, and tells them about the plan to end the war once and for all… with rocks. The six crystals that come from each family of the circle make up one big crystal that will kill the witch hunters forever. The group feels better, Cassie reveals she has a crystal, and they retreat to their homes.
The episode ends in a typical montage: Grant shows up at Diana’s (how did he know where she lives, creeper) and begs for another chance… Diana denies she’s a spy and hesitantly agrees to give the fibber another go. Cassie wants to jump Adam’s bones in the car after he drives her home, but is sadly denied, and Blackwell digs up a grave.
I thought this episode was extremely well done, what did you think about the episode? (Do you wish the person who invented hiatus’ would be water-boarded… with acid… seeing as we have to wait 3 weeks for a new ep?) Do you believe the previews and think Faye is the other Blackwell child? Is Grant guilty of telling a small lie or possibly something bigger and badder? Let me know in the comments below.

I'm not convinced that Faye is the other Blackwell child , I think that is the easy answer that everyone will jump to only to find out they were wrong. I used to think it was Meliss and while it still may be, I am now leaning toward the soon to return from the dead Nick. Also yes who ever made up this years tv schedule should be hunted down!!! Seriously this years has been the worst!
I feel like they wouldn't have revealed such a big secret in a preview... that's not how it should be done. They will think Faye is the other Blackwell until the actually child is revealed. My hopes are for Diana. LOL.
2 in a row! Maybe it shouldn't be cancelled.
We know the other Balcoin is a woman. Actually, I'd prefer if it wasn't Faye but she has some other other powerful magic just because she's awesome.
