Hey, remember that time I made an April Fools’ joke about Josh Safran not being the GG boss anymore? Well, it’s actually not a joke.
It’s just been reported that current Gossip Girl boss and showrunner Josh Safran, who took over the series after Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage decided to focus their efforts on their Fake Empire studio, will takeover as showrunner on Smash‘s season two.
According to Entertainment Weekly, execs were blown away with his idea for season two of the show; see, the current showrunner stepped down amidst backlash from the show’s first season, creatively. (I don’t go against the criticism; the show has been spiraling down.) But it’s also almost a sure thing that Gossip Girl will be renewed for a sixth and final (and shortened) season.
So what does this mean for Gossip Girl? Who will be put in charge? Does this limit GG‘s chances of renewal? Am I just an almighty seer? I don’t know — but I surely want to hear your thoughts about it. Please please please sound off below.

yay no more Safran!! Maybe GG can end on a good note :) With CHAIR!!!!
I don't even know how to FEEL anymore! On the one hand, it's usually not great creatively when a showrunner abandons ship. On the other hand this season has been slowly killing me, the greatest Gossip Girl apologist of all time.
I do know one thing though, my dreams of Smash ever getting better just flew out the window.
Good -- let him go ruin Smash. If it's indeed the last season (and shortened) hopefully Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will come back. If they insist on staying away, I say we vote you in. Hell even if they want to comeback maybe we should do a pitching session. I have a feeling you'll win.
Considering that Safran as head of GG has made the fanbase all hate one another - and him - and has confused the ever-loving heck out of me as a viewer... I'm not sure Smash is going to get any less backlash next season. If anything, it's about to get more.
But if this means Schwartz and Savage come back to GG for the final 13 episodes? BE MY GUEST.
Excellent, your time has come Michael muahaha
I doubt this will prevent the show from getting its final season... but I'm not too excited that the father of dair isn't going to be running the show anymore! I can only hope that who ever takes over doesn't F things up!!! ://
This almost surely means the end of Dair. He's been planning that ship since ep. 4 of the entire series, and when he became showrunner he made it his mission to make them happen. There's no way he wouldn't see their arc through to the end if they were endgame or had any chance past this season. This can only mean that (mercifully), Dair is being put out of its misery and Safran will be taking that monstrosity with him.
lol Michael Collado to replace this retard
I feel sorry for the viewers and fans of "Smash" but I am so happy if that means that Safran will not be the showrunner of GG anymore. If Safran leaves this would mean the end of Dair and I would watch season 6. I just hope that it's true that he leaves and if he leaves then I want a season 6, so that the mess that Safran has created can be fixed!!
Wow, do they hate Smash so much that they want to ruin it by putting Safran in charge? Safran = Death of Hope, basically, and I'm sorry for you Smash fans out there, but this means that sans Safran, they might actually make Gossip Girl bearable again, so yay.
