Jane By Design 1×11 ‘The Replacement’ recap: Everybody loves Jane

Jane By Design is back, you guys! After what seems a very long hiatus, our quirky comedy is back! Tons happened, no just kidding! It seems to me that almost nothing has changed  from where we left off. Billy likes Jane, Rita and Ben like each other, Nick is pining after Jane and Lulu is pining after Billy. Oh yeah, also Jeremy still likes Jane! But I still liked the episode, it just felt kind of underwhelming.

Billy gets out of juvy after two months, so Jane is kind of nervous. What we didn’t see, is that Billy ran off after his little revelation in the finale. Leaving the whole issue unresolved.     The BFF’s reconcile briefly before heading to school. It must been a sucky day for Billy, imagine you being in juvy for two months and you have to go to school the minute you’re out.

Talking about school, Lulu and Nick got together right after Billy went away for juvy. I have to agree with Jane, those two deserve each other. But then again, highschool kids are fickle. Right now, I really don’t care about these two any more. Even though it seems that they just settled for each other, because they can’t be with the ones they like.

Ben is having trouble hiding his sisters real occupation from his girlfriend Rita, and it puts a slight strain on their relationship. Jane grades are going down and Rita doesn’t think this ‘internship’ is doing good things for her. If Jane skips another class without reason, Rita won’t sign the documents for another semester.

It just happens that working for Grey is extra time consuming. Finding a replacement for India is nearly impossible and they have to impress the stylist for Harrods. Grey assures Jeremy that she has someone young, fresh and creative in mind. Entry Eli, Greys nephew. It was kind of obvious that Eli is another love interest for Jane, since Jane rejected Jeremy. A girl has to have a minimum of three love interests, you know!

Anyway, Jeremy immediately thinks Grey will offer the job to Jane. She seriously considers leaving school (along with a struggling Billy) for the job and they fight. Jane skips another class, while Billy and Ben are refusing to help her. Rita quickly catches on, and they are forced to lie for Jane. Unfortunately they both told Rita a different lie, so Rita forces Ben to drive her to a ‘sick’ Jane.

Despite the fight with Jane, Billy decides to help her and goes to get Jane at Grey’s office. Who is just about to announce the guy or girl for the job. Jane decides that she doesn’t want to leave Billy and highschool behind just yet, but it wouldn’t have mattered anyway. Grey gave the job position to her nephew Eli. I’m just wondering, how old is Eli. He seems quite young, possibly college-young. Actually can we just throw Nick in a trashcan and replace him with Eli, I’m all for that!

Jane and Billy both rush to Jane’s house and arrive just in time. Rita feels guilty for not believing Ben. Guess who feels guilty now, Rita? Billy and Jane have a little chat about his revelation, but Billy decides to tell her she’s just his best friend and nothing more. You thought they would be together right away? Please, that’s not how these kind of things work on ABC Family!

Anyway, the episode ends with the arrival of the Harrods stylist. Guess who? India’s back baby!
