Jane By Design 1×13 ‘The Surprise’ recap: A lot of face-talk

So Teri Hatcher made her debut last night on Jane By Design as Jane’s long-lost mother. This was meant to be the surprise of the evening, well ABC Family thank you for ruining that moment in your promo! We had one crowded party because Lulu and Nick were also back, with Nick slightly redeeming himself.

I really enjoyed ‘The Surprise’, even though the biggest surprise was kinda spoiled. For me the biggest surprise was definitely Jeremy revealing his secret to Jane. I like when things aren’t dragged out and what started last week with India’s arrival, got to a head at Jane’s birthday party at Donovan Decker.

The main event was obviously Jane’s birthday. Everyone seemed to have forgotten Jane’s birthday and she was a little down. Only, they were planning a surprise birthday party behind her back. It was a bad plan from the beginning, also noted by Rita and Zoë. Zoë was kind of Billy’s decoy date, while Ben had a baseball scout to worry about.

At work, things weren’t looking up for Jane either. It even got to the point where Jane really thought she was going to get fired. Eli gallantly suggested that she would tag along on his ‘errands’, to maker her feel better. Only, their date was a fake-date because there was another surprise party for Jane at Donovan Decker. Their hiding part was really funny because you could actually see them sitting behind the glass. While Jane was like ‘Hey where is everyone?’.

Anyway so far the hiding part. The thing with two different surprise party’s is that you’re bound to miss one of them. Unluckily, that was the one organized by Billy and Ben. There were a lot of kids that Jane didn’t even like or knew. At one point, Lulu even entered the building. Nick and Lulu broke up, and Lulu came to harass Zoë and Billy. That was the point of Lulu in this episode. Or maybe  her point was for Billy to say ‘Never date a rich girl, ’cause they are trouble!’ when his new girl Zoë is superrich!

Things between Ben and Rita was still in an awkward-fase, but they were trying to get along. At the party some classmate of theirs arrived and got the hots for Ben, to Rita’s dismay.

Like I said before, Nick really redeemed himself in my eyes. First of all, the main focal point for him was impressing a scout, only to sprain his shoulder in the process. There’s probably some trouble ahead for Nick, but not love troubles. Nick seemed really OK with breaking up with LuLu and wanted to leave the party before Jane would arrive. He even bonded with Billy for a brief second!

At Jane’s fancy party at DD, Jeremy was having fun with the booze. India was constantly harassing him for the password of Grey’s computer or she would tell everyone Jeremy’s little secret. At one point, he had enough and wanted to come clean about everything. I don’t know if he would done the same if he wasn’t drunk, but hey he wanted to come clean. India then stuffed him in a closet to shut him up.

Jane was still a little down because of that fake-date, but Eli smooth talked her and asked her on a real date. Coincidentally in the same room where Jeremy was stuck. Jeremy revealed then to her that he was the mole all along. Ben arrived at the DD-party and took Jane to her other party, but everyone was already gone (including Billy). EXCEPT their abandoning mother!

In this episode, there was a lot of face-talk. So this is what they all probably meant while saying something entirely different!
