Pretty Little Liars 3.03 ‘Kingdom of the Blind’ recap: So Jenna is not blind. Huh.

Hello, liars. I’m sorry I’m so late, but as you may or may not know, this week Rio +20 is happening so I had a lot of work to do for school. Back to Pretty Little Liars, I’m sorry to say that I’m bored by it. In the middle of the second episode I paused it and did other stuff to later come back to finish watching it. Episode three was slightly better, though.

The episode started with the girls looking at Jenna and talking about her. Last episode they found out that she wasn’t blind and now Aria has to become closer with Jenna to find out what she’s planning. They also talk about Mona and how she’s even creepier now that she’s talking and Hanna suggests throwing a table in front of Jenna. Oh Hanna, I love you.

Then Jenna goes away and so do the liars. They talk about Spencer’s mom being Garret’s attorney and they see Lucas being scolded by the vice-principal, which concerns Hanna. She follows him and asks him what’s going on and he explains that was kind of a note to his parents saying that he has been having a negative attitude. So he burns the paper and throws it away. And that’s when Caleb enters the room. Later, Caleb and Hanna talk about Lucas and Caleb says he’ll talk to him if she stops visiting Mona. She agrees, but obviously she won’t stop.

The next day, Aria agrees on playing with Jenna (she had denied her request on episode 2), saying that she didn’t agree before because she had stage fright and that she had to face it. Then Jenna adds “you look it in the eye” and, of course, it’s their lunch subject. C’mon, the girl can’t even say something and you think she’s the new A. Whatever, the subject changed anyway. Aria’s mom posted the grades of Emily’s make-up test and she got a 94. But how, if she didn’t even finish the test?

We cut to Lucas on the science lab and Caleb entering to ask him not to put Hanna on fire. Then Lucas starts to say metaphors and what I think he meant it: there’s more than one A and there’s more coming.

Back to Emily’s storyline, she asks Ella if there’s something wrong with her grades and Ella basically confesses that she finished her test.

Spencer gets home and finds Melissa there. They talk about Washington and Melissa seems more depressed than before. Did I miss something? Anyway, Spencer’s mom gets home and says that she needs to talk to the both of them. Spencer was pretty good at faking being surprised when her mom told her that she was defending Garrett. She discussed with her mother about this and, when she asked Melissa if she was ok with it, she said that she had lost any interest on the subject three months ago. Again, did I miss something? Did I forget something that was said in the premiere?

Emily and Aria get home and Emily says that she thinks Aria’s mom finished her test for her. They talk about how A could use that against her and Aria says she can’t believe they are back to talking about A and being scared and stuff. Emily answers saying that they didn’t go through all of that to learn nothing from it and that this time she’s way more angry than scared.

Back to Spencer’s, she confronts Melissa about how she really feels about their mom defending Garrett and she says she’s completely indifferent, to which Spencer replies saying that she doesn’t buy that, that she thinks Melissa convinced their mom to defend Garrett. They argue and Spencer says that when she was at the hospital, in June, she wanted to see her. Oh, so I didn’t miss anything, they just told us what happened now. Turns out Melissa lost the baby, poor girl. And, according to her, Garrett’s the only one who’s always told her the truth.

We move to Jenna’s house, where she and Aria are playing. Aria finds a note and is trying to read it when Jenna turns around and they talk about how Emily is doing, Mona and the grave being dug up. Then Jenna leaves to bring the cookies and Aria reads the note. Cut to the girls deciding that they are following Jenna the next day and that Melissa’s baby was actually Garrett’s. Aria comes back to the room (she was on the phone with her mom) and says that Ella won’t be able to drive her to Philadelphia because she’ll have a meeting with the vice-principal.

Hanna goes to the mental institution and Mona is completely different. I said she wouldn’t keep the promise anyway. There’s an Ezria cute scene before Aria says she’s worried her mom can get fired because of what she did to help Emily. Then we go back to Mona being creepier than when she didn’t talk. I mean, she talks to Hanna like they are still best friends and then she asks if they ever found out what’s left of Alison. Because that’s such a normal question. Also, as Hanna was leaving, she sees Lucas get in the visiting room.

Ezra meets Ella on a bar and they talk about the Emily situation. It’s really nice to see that they can still talk and stuff, instead of not even mentioning one another, like Byron does. We move back to Hanna as she leaves the mental institution and she finds Caleb there. They argue about Mona and Hanna says she’s been her friend forever and stuff. Then she lets it slip that Mona hit her with her car and Caleb gets even more worried. They argue a little more and Lucas comes out of the hospital. Once again Lucas doesn’t speak clearly. But he basically said that Mona is faking being crazy and that it’s safer for her and a lot of other people if she stays crazy. It was creepy but Caleb didn’t have to do that face, lol.

The next day, Aria and Hanna are in the car, waiting for Jenna on the place it said she would be on the note. Meanwhile, Spencer is calling the hospital Melissa was at, pretending to be Melissa to get her records of being there. Aria and Hanna talk about Aria’s mom and the hospital has no record of Melissa being there. She says it may have been on her husband’s name and, in the car, Hanna says she should have asked Lucas about the Black Swan. They also talk about her and Caleb and there’s no record of Melissa nor Thomas on the hospital. Finally, Jenna’s car arrives to pick her up and the girls follow her. Spencer finds out that Melissa stayed at the hotel three days longer than she said she had, together with their mom.

At school, Emily goes to Ella’s classroom to talk to her about the test, saying that it was her mistake and they get out of the room just to find Ezra talking to the vice-principal. Turns out Ezra made up a story and saved Ella’s job. I really appreciate how Ezra, even after all that Aria’s parents did, still wants to have a nice relationship with them. They were friends before all this, after all. I was still thinking about this when Aria and Hanna see Jenna driving. Then it hit me and I was like “finally!”. Then I came back to thinking about Ezra because they showed us a scene where Ezra and Ella talk and Ezra reads my mind.

Jenna goes to a gun store and while she’s inside, the girls talk about Melissa not being on the hospital. Then, she gets out and Hanna, the queen of attitude and the world show gets in front of Jenna’s car.

Why does PLL has to have so many storylines? It always cuts in the middle of the few scenes on this season that I’m excited about to another scene not that interesting, like Caleb and Mona being all frenemies on the mental institution. Caleb provokes Mona saying that he can get out of there and she says he’s a lousy kisser. Yeah, really good comparison. And then she freaks out and he goes away.

The girls cornered Jenna and she told them that she stayed “blind” because it was safer for her. She didn’t tell Toby because it was safer for him. She had been leaving Rosewood at night so that she could stop pretending for at least some while. She found Emily one night, drunk, crying and talking about Maya so she put her in the car and planned took her home but Emily got out of the car when she stopped at the light so she went away. Jenna asked them not to tell anyone because someone was after her and they owned it to her.

When Spencer got home, she and her mom argued a little more and Spencer said that she was faking about being pregnant. She asked if her mom knew, but she answered that she only had suspicions. Spencer also asked and when did Melissa really lose the baby but her mom wouldn’t tell her so she went upstairs, angry.

Emily met Ezra on the coffee shop they’ve been meeting and complained about Ella to him, that it was bad enough when she finished the test for her but now she made him lie for her too. Ezra said that it was his idea and Emily said that she doesn’t need her teachers to feel sorry for her. They talk about it and Ezra goes to get his coffee while Emily does another test. To end the episode, creepy Mona is creepy singing and creepy A is creepy opening a funerary bag – probably where Alison is, right?

That was it, liars. An ok episode, a good one if compared with the second. And I’m not critical, not at all. Anyway, I’m not sure if I want to keep watching the show so here’s what I’ll do. I’ll watch episode 4 and decide if I’ll continue to watch the show or not. If not, I’m sorry, liars, it was good while it lasted. But I miss the excitement I felt on season 1 and a part of season 2. I’m not feeling it this season. But who knows. I hope I’ll see you next time.
