The Glee Project 2×04 ‘Sexuality’ recap: Three times the charm

Isn’t this season already much better than the previous one! I’m actually always scared about a send-off, which didn’t happen until Cameron’s departure last year for me! I think they’re looking for a person who can manage for the long haul, because let’s be serious. Damian or Samuel both didn’t have a really important storyline, they’re just props for the main characters.

‘Enough with the comparisons already, Guinevere!’ Yeah, I hear you! But, I just want to emphasize the greatness of this episode! Although, I hope I’m not the only one who thought the homework assignment was a tad awkward. It was sung greatly, but the performance overall was just awkward. I think everyone contestant knew who would be their Sexuality coach. They’ve been sending in the main characters week after week, so it was natural that Naya Rivera would show up as their Sexuality coach. ‘I Wanna Sex You Up!’ is just a plain awful song, but they managed to make it sound good. Charlie was crowned the winner and got a session with Naya.

The bigger theme for their music video was Sex-Ed and a sex-off between the boys and girls. The song choice was a mash-up between Moves Like Jagger and Milkshake. I have a hate/love relationship with mash-ups, but I have to admit this one was very good!

At first it seemed that Nellie would have a big problem, since she’s not that comfortable with sexuality and sex. But she was the big surprise in the episode, she nailed that music video. She was even sexier than Aylin, who crowned herself Queen of Sexy. All of them did rather great in their music video, it was definitely a good week for them acting-wise. Charlie did great in his music video in the end, but was cocky and bossy. He was ordering the other staff around and began directing. This didn’t fly with the director and was seriously pissed off at Charlie.

Charlie was actually all over the place in every aspect of this episode, he couldn’t concentrate and be professional in the recording studio. Who begins to flirt with someone outside the studio while recording? Charlie does! Those teenage hormones! Aylin is being wise about these lingering feelings and remains professional. Michael is also having troubles in the recording studio due to nerves and got send out the booth early.

I always enjoy those in-between moments, like Abraham dying his hair black by Tyler. Those had a sweet bromance going on. But I know what it’s like to dye your hair, and I would never trust someone who had never done it before to dye my hair. So Abraham must have trusted Tyler a lot with this deal. Because a lot can go wrong trust me! And Nellie who didn’t know what ‘Milkshake’ was about when she was a kid. That was funny, since she thought it was about actual milkshakes. I guess every kid thought it was about milkshakes, right?

Anywaaaaay, time for some last-chance performances! Charlie, Shanna, Michael and Tyler remained as the last four contestants who did something wrong during this episode. Charlie was unprofessional, Tyler didn’t pop out as much as the others, Shanna wasn’t really that sexy and Michael struggled in the recording booth. In the end, Shanna was called back.

Tyler and Charlie didn’t really knew their songs, but managed to deliver a good performance. Michael got the easiest song out of the bunch, and still forgot the lyrics. (It was Lucky by Jason Mraz…) His nerves got the best of him and he improvised a good chunk of the song. I think the three of them had three different problems, so I see why it was so hard for the mentors to choose between them. This elimination wasn’t a shock to me. They said it multiple times, they’re team Michael. He’s a rising star, he’s just got some nerves. And Ryan absolutely adores Charlie! The problem with Tyler was obviously his timid personality, they want someone who is confident enough to pop out. Tyler was at that point just at the start of his transformation, his voice is going to change. He is going to change mentally but also physically. I think this competitions just fell at a bad time for him, but he’s a great artist and I’m sad to see him go!
