True Blood 5.03 ‘Whatever I am, You Made Me’ recap & review

In my opinion, another somewhat boring episode. I literally found myself dozing off every once in a while. Am I the only one?

Anyways, let’s get down to business.

Tara is having an extremely hard time with being a vampire. After almost killing an innocent girl, she runs into Sam who takes her in and gives her Tru Blood. She tells him not to tell Sookie and Layfayette that she is with him. She really is pissed at them. I understand why she is so mad, but they really did what they thought was in her best interest. Can you blame them?

Roman agrees with Bill and Eric’s proposal from the previous episode. They have agreed to find Russell Edgington in exchange for their lives.  They are strapped up in some gadget that can kill them in an instant by vampire, Tina Majorino. I can’t picture her as anyone other than Mac on Veronica Mars. Also, the new Nan Flanagan is Steve Newlin. We all saw that coming.

Oh and getting to see Eric’s butt was a highlight of the episode. It always brightens my day. Really.

Sookie goes to Fangtasia to ask Pam to help her find Tara and Pam replies “F*ck Tara and f*ck you!” Sookie uses her faerie powers to send Pam flying across Fangtasia. Ballsy move, Sook.

Andy is pissed because a naked picture of him ends up on Facebook. There to witness his rage are Debbie Pelt’s parents. They are worried about her disappearance. Andy beings to investigate. I should be nervous about Sookie going to jail for Debbie’s death but I highly doubt that will happen.

Jason runs into one of his old teachers at the store and we are immediately informed that something weird happened between them back in the day. This is confirmed at her house when Jason seduces her and they proceed to have sex. I tell you, that guy is out of control. He needs to settle down. He reminds me of a dog that needs to be spayed. He always ends up regretting it, just don’t do it!

I also loved Jessica and Jason just trying to be friends. Jason is definitely in need of one of those right now. Maybe this will go somewhere…

My personal favorite part of the episode (also the most interesting in my opinion) was the flashbacks between Pam and Eric. I’ve been WAITING for these. We found out in the episode before that Pam was a pimp of sorts. Eric helps her rip Bill and Lorena off her girls and they proceed to have sex. Pam wanted Eric to make her a vampire. He denies at first because being a Maker is hard stuff. After cutting both of her wrists open though, he kind of had no choice.

Meanwhile, we find out that Nora is a sanguinista, Terry is going on some trip, Jessica smells a delicious mysterious something, Lafayette pours bleach in the gumbo and sees that creepy Warlock face in the mirror again.

Lastly, Tara breaks into a tanning bed and turns it on. Switch scenes to Pam doing work for Fangtasia when she feels Tara is in danger. She wants to not care so bad, but can’t seem to do it.

I love True Blood and always will, but this episode really was nothing special, in my opinion. I’m ready for all the drama to really start! The one saving grace of the episode for me was the flashbacks of Eric and Pam, as I already mentioned before.

Favorite Quote:
“Just imagine it’s a training bra.” -Eric’s guard
“It’s been a long time since I’ve worn one.” -Eric

*sigh* I love him.

  • I don't think Nora is a singuinista, she was just covering for Eric? Only Salomé knows that Eric is her brother, and she wanted to keep the secret. Or I could have misread that whole scene and Nora is in fact a singuinista. But yeah it was another boring episode

  • I have no idea what's happening on this season but I've stopped complaining about it. I'm just happy for more Pam, I guess.

  • Bill and ELENA ? wasn't her name Lorena ?
lol, now i totally imagined elena gilbert and bill feeding on a dead whore xd

  • Lorena not Elena. This episode was so-so but so was this recap. Kinda too paint by numbers but it's probably just because I enjoy Michael's recaps alot.
