After the amazing twist ending of “Party Guessed,” Teen Wolf delivered an episode that many other shows would pass off as a season finale. If “Fury” was any indication of how twisty-turny Teen Wolf can be, the last two episodes of the season are guaranteed to pack a punch. There were at least FOUR plot twists, with many other small game changers. With Peter Hale returned to the land of the living, and Mama Argent offing herself to avoid becoming a werewolf, things in Beacon Hills are a little stressed.
COLLISION COURSE: After revealing that Matt, Allison’s camera stalker, was the one controlling Jackson in his kanima form, the show starts with a flashback to explain a few things. On the night he lent his camera to Jackson, Matt was able to watch whatever Jackson was filming using a phone app. That’s how he saw Jackson begin to change into the kanima, and it was also the night their murder bond was formed. Since Scott and Stiles have figured out that Matt is the one behind all the murders in town, they go to Sheriff Stilinkski in order to turn the police department in Matt’s direction.
Even with the sheriff on temporary leave due to Stiles stealing the police van, he’s still able to get into the station to review some evidence, including security footage of the hospital the night the pregnant woman was killed. The video shows that Scott’s mother actually spoke to Matt that night, so Mama McCall needs to come into the station to make a statement. Before she arrives though, Matt shows up with a gun and begins ordering everyone around, killing a few officers in the process.
Meanwhile, Derek is still in his old burnt out house recovering from whatever Lydia did to him as she resurrected Peter Hale. Deaton is there, and when Derek demands to know why the veterinarian is always around to help him, Deaton tells him that he has helped the Hale family for a long time and made a promise to Derek’s mother to look out for him. Obviously, there’s a lot to this character’s back story, and we’re just scratching the surface. Deaton gives Derek some advice about learning to trust people in order to become a better alpha and warns him to watch out for Gerard Argent, who Deaton believes is concocting a larger plan involving the latest events.
Deaton is absolutely right about Gerard, as the older hunter wastes no time to manipulate Allison’s grief about her mother’s death into convincing her to make a move against Derek. Since it has been established that the Argent men are soldiers and the women lead their hunting team, Victoria Argent’s death has moved Allison up into a position of power among her family. All it takes is a little dramatic speech from grandpa to make Allison decide that the Argents will move against Derek that night to kill him, taking out any other werewolves who try to stop them.
This leaves most of the major players headed all to the same place: the police station.
I’LL HAVE A PLOT TWIST WITH A SIDE OF SHOCKING TURN OF EVENTS, PLEASE: Matt uses the influence of his gun to have Scott and Stiles cuff Sheriff Stilinski in a jail cell, then has them destroy all the evidence against him. Derek arrives, but he and Stiles are both quickly paralyzed by kanima-Jackson. Scott is left to deal with Matt on his own just as Mama McCall arrives at the station. In a show of power, Matt shoots Scott in front of his mother, then locks her up in the cell next to the sheriff. Mama McCall is worried about Scott bleeding to death, of course, not knowing her son will heal. With everyone restrained and contained, Matt demands that Scott give him the Argent’s bestiary, and with good reason: he’s starting to show signs of turning into a kanima, large scale patterns appearing on his skin. Derek and Stiles speculate that since Matt is breaking the rules about how he uses the kanima to kill, he’s becoming one.
But, before he turns into a monster full-time, he delivers a typical villain monologue to explain his evil motives. According to Matt, he’s been taking out the 2006 Beacon Hills swim team because none of them tried to save him when a victory party turned into a disaster. One of the drunken swim team members threw him into the pool, and since he couldn’t swim, Matt almost drowned. Isaac’s father, the swim team coach, demanded that Matt keep quiet. When Matt saw Isaac’s father at Kate Argent’s funeral, his anger took control, and he wished the old coach was dead. When he ended up dead the next day, Matt took it as a sign that he was getting his revenge. He bonded with the kanima and would take pictures of everyone he wanted to die, and the kanima took care of it for him.
Villains should learn to keep their monologues short, however, because Matt’s guard is down with the Argents arrive to take out Derek. The fighting begins, everyone with their own agenda. Allison wants to kill Derek, Scott wants to protect his mom, Matt wants everyone dead, and the Kanima-Jackson wants to oblige Matt. It’s chaos, with everyone getting a little piece of the action.
Several important reveals happen in the course of the fighting. First, Mama McCall bears witness to a fight between Derek in his werewolf form and the kanima, but it doesn’t end there. Scott wolfs out right in front of his mother. Her reaction is a mixture of horror and shock at the sight of her son. Scott doesn’t have time to explain, though, and rushes to continue with the fighting. A second twist is delivered when Scott encounters Gerard, and the dialogue they share indicates that Scott has been actually feeding Gerard information, working as a spy. Both werewolf and hunter are unaware that their discussion is overheard by Derek. The final shocker of the night happens when Gerard corners Matt and drags him out into a nearby pond, drowning the teenager in cold blood. Peter Hale lurks nearby, watching it all happen. The kanima approaches Gerard and they do a secret handshake, apparently making Gerard the new master.
The stakes were raised to new levels in “Fury”. Considering most shows would would keep Scott’s mom in the dark for a few more seasons, Teen Wolf is definitely turning into a show that’s not afraid to defy audience expectations. When everyone is done picking their collective jaws off the floor, lets discuss Gerard’s plan. What do you think his intentions are with the kanima? What about those pills he’s constantly taking? Are you surprised that Scott is working for Gerard, or do you think it could be a double-agent situation?

This was a brilliant episode.
Scott's mother knowing will be interesting. Especially considering that there's a possibility that there's some supernatural mysteries in their past with the whole their missing father thing. Jeff Davis already knows what is Scott's mother's maiden name, so chances are he has some sort of plan for their past too.
Allison was awesome. The girl might be manipulated and all but she is damn fearless and Badass,
I saw a lot of people dissing her for wanting to take revenge on derek and frankly, i am sorry but anyone BLAMING Allison for irrationally acting upon her emotions (something male cast members like Derek have been doing since the start) is either incredibly sexist or not very bright.
The girl just lost her mother, who killed herself because of what Derek did. It does not matter that She could have lived or why Derek bit her. What matters is that she is dead.
And Allison has always been someone who HATES being useless and weak.
When someone close to you dies, you always have this tendency to want to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. And so does Allison. And she manages to be capable, resourceful and badass, even though she is being manipulated by Gerard.
I understand why Scott would do what he did. Derek is not exactly trust-worthy. he has tried to kill a lot of people about whom Scott cares about, he has been keeping secrets from him, he had the whole confrontation attitude towards hunters and Gerard threatened Scott's mother. Frankly in such situation, no one would chose Derek over their own family. Also scott might be playing a double agent of sorts and planning to screw over Gerard too. The guy might be a bit clueless, but when it comes at outsmarting people on the go, he did show being quite capable, having outsmarted Derek at least twice this season.
A lot of what Derek getting is deserving - he does not trust anyone, thus no one trusts him either. he kept secrets behind everyone's back thus everyone does the same to him
He has been reaching for the skies since he became an alpha and in doing so he got so high up that he could no longer see all those people he counts as "bellow" him. Now its time for Derek to hit the ground and realize just how close to the ground he has always been, facing his own overblown ego that developed over the course of this season. .
This is my first time having watched the show live after catching up the past month and OH MY GOD it just NEVER disappoints. What an absolutely fantastic episode. Everyone was on their game, and I'm loving Allison even more and more every single episode. She's awesome. Gotta agree with @twitter-479498875:disqus, I don't know if anyone IS actually badmouthing Allison, but we should seriously stop bitching out strong female characters from now on. Be happy they're written at all, please people.
Anyway, love me some Teen Wolf. Can't believe it took so long for me to start watching.
the fandom reaction towards the female characters of the show actually astonished me in very negative way.
At first it was all usual stuff, but after introduction of Erica, the hate towards female characters escalated into unhealthy levels. Then last week there was a fandom-wide assault on Lydia's fanbase, with people hating her and BLAMING her for being a victim in that situation. This week fandom dislikes that Allison actually tries to do something and that Allison grieves.
While part of that is because of Derek fangirls giving him a free pass for everything he has done, while lashing out upon any character who tries to do anything to him, a lot of it surprisingly comes from parts of fanbase that seem to be offended by the fact that female characters make decisions, act upon their emotions and overall matter. It seems that the generation of teens who are growing up with Elena Gilberts and Bella Swans, find the idea of independent and empowered female character "slutty" and "angering".
For the show that has quite strong and independent female characters, the fandom seems to be incredibly sexist.
Allison for me is everything that Elena will never be. The very basics of character are incredibly similar - you have a normal girl hailing from estranged family of hunters, involved in supernatural romance, being surrounded by supernatural events. However unlike TVD with Elena, Teen Wolf actually allows Allison to be affected by all the horrible things that happen, to develop, to show her darker sides, to be useful, to make decision and not just mope around trying to decide on some love triangle .
Frankly, when Allison did her LEAP AND ATTACK, all I could see was the legacy of Buffy Summers, and it made me proud. I didn't care what her motives were... I was finally seeing a something I've been looking for in American fantasy TV since the end of the Buffy era.
I just began to watch this show and I found it pretty good. I didn't know people hated Allison, she's a very cool and badass character unlike another annoying and very much useless damsel in distress.
I don't hate her and I'm glad she's finding her power. She is kind of the worst girlfriend ever though. She pretty much turned on Scott on a dime, all the while he's been stabbed, run over, vaporized and let's not forget threatening even his mom's life, by every member of her family. All the while he has been working his ass off to keep her and most everyone else safe. Really?!! It would be interesting to see her come to a realization about her family and how they've really been acting (Gerard, Victoria), but for Scott to also have an epiphany and say "you can't have it both ways. I can't keep choosing you and getting punished for it."
If the person who touched the kanima's hand in the original episode, why does Matt touch Jackson's kanima hand through the window bare handed
Because its not the same scene.
But then who was the one wearing the gloves that kanima/ Jackson touched hands with?
Most likely still Matt, but at the different time.
I really loved this episode, hell I really loved this entire season so far.
I think Gerhard is a werewolf but those pills stop the transformation. or some kind of supernatural creature at least, remember that line stiles magically drew 2 episodes back (I think). Gerhard couldn't cross it, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this before. I think that's why he hates them so much, because they've turned him? Doesn't seem very logical, but it's just a theory guys ;p
Even though Allison was superbadass, I must agree with @henninggirl:disqus that Allison is a lousy girlfriend. Hell she didn't even mention the demise of her mother to Scott? I know she's suffering right now, but they couldn't be apart for on day at a point in this season and still she decided not to tell scott about the death of her mother, even before she knew the actual cause..
I'm glad that Scott's mother finally knows about his true nature, I'm excited to see that storyline enfold between all the madness..
