America’s Next Top Model recap: Tyler Perry and Zombies

After last week’s panel, Victoria is so excited she won, and she tells the other girls about how all she thought of when she won was her mother.  She also tells them that she is not picking anyone to stay with her in the Tyra Suite, which is not really winning her any friends in the house.  At this point, I think it is safe to say that her loner weirdo status is pretty much set in stone.

While Victoria is enjoying her suite, Kristen is bemoaning the fact that the judges just don’t understand her.   She just seems to think everyone is out to get her.  Her poor personality came out for real when she took something out of Destiny’s bag without asking and all hell broke loose.  Kristen immediately tried to get Destiny to hit her, so she would go home, but Destiny was smarter than that.  The girls get on her for not ‘defending herself’, but Destiny isn’t a fighter and obviously she knows the rules of the show! She doesn’t want to go home, so props to her for keeping her cool.

The next day at the challenge, the girls have to do some acting for Tyler Perry, who is there to judge the challenge with Tyra. The girls are given one of four personalities (delusional diva, wannabe rapper, confused tourist, or hippie street performer) that they have to act out on the streets of LA.  The whole point is to be over-the-top, and boy did some of these girls succeed.

Victoria gets so into her role as a delusional diva that a homeless man ended up throwing some fried chicken at her. However even her performance does not match the one put on by Kiara, who ends up winning the challenge and gets a walk on role in a future Tyler Perry production. Obviously most of the girls aren’t thrilled by this result, since they aren’t huge fans of Kiara, but there really isn’t thing they can do about it besides, you know, perform better.

After the challenge, the girls head over to Universal Studios for their photo shoot, where they will be portraying zombies.  Kristen shows up on set and lets them know that she can’t show emotion because she refuses to laugh at Johnny’s ‘corny jokes’ and she is sick of being told to not look pretty. Whoa, girl, tone down the ‘tude.  Destiny, who has been struggling lately, also has some issues, since she does not feel confident at all going onto set, which leads to her completely bombing her shoot.

At judging Kiara gets some bad feedback and she continues to tank with the social media people.  Last week’s best picture winner, Victoria, struggles a bit and looks way to angelic for a zombie.  Leila, Brittany, and Laura all get great responses to their shots, from both the judges and the fans. As expect, Kristen gets criticized for being too pretty, and instead of getting offended (as I expected she would), she simply asks for advice on how to be not be so pretty.  That was a surprisingly good move by her.  Everyone knows Tyra likes girls that are humble and welcome her guidance.  Laura ends up winning her first best photo and she has the highest score a girl has received on the show so far.  Despite Kristen and Kiara’s poor attitudes, Destiny and Yvonne end up in the bottom two.   Yvonne is there because she isn’t embracing her plus-sized status and Destiny is in the bottom because she isn’t capturing her potential in photos.  Yvonne has the higher score, so she gets to stay, and poor Destiny is sent to the online comeback series.

Next week the girls are portraying cheerleaders and walking in a fashion show for Alicia Keys. And, of course, it wouldn’t be an episode of America’s Next Top Model if we didn’t see some girl drama in the house.  That is just part of its charm!
