…unless your name is White Chocolate, then by all means, leave your shirt off! In all seriousness though, I liked the way this episode ended, with Sam taking one for the team Artie and leaving his clothes on. He still looked super adorable, even when he was covered up. I loved the tribute to Sam at the end and all the Blam bromance in this episode too, though I kept thinking, ‘Please don’t kiss him, please don’t kiss him.’ In addition, I think they presented the reality that men can also suffer from body dysmorphia way too soon after the Marley-eating-disorder story line. Also, it seemed like kind of a bad idea to have the guys pose in a calendar that focuses so heavily on their buff bods when their competition just got busted for steroids. But all in all, it’s an episode I would watch again.
If I were to watch this episode again, I would probably fast forward through all the Rachel drama. I think the predicament she faced fit well with the story line, but again, too many body image issues in the same season, not to mention the fact that Finn himself, the love of Rachel’s life (down with Brody!), said that Rachel’s boobs weren’t all that great. Plus, Brody’s not only an idiot for thinking that Kurt would be okay with him parading around the apartment naked (I’m guessing he moved in?), but for encouraging Rachel to go topless for a student film. His logic that all the best Oscar winners have gone topless is completely flawed because once again, it’s a student film.
As far as the music goes, I wasn’t impressed with ‘Torn.’ I loved the return of Old Rachel and wish she would come back for good, but this song is probably my least favorite of the mix radio station overplays. I loved ‘Hot in Herre’ but I thought it was a mistake to mash it up with ‘Centerfold,’ because it’s probably the most annoying classic rock song ever, and they didn’t even use the good part…’na na na na na na…’ Moving on, I was shocked that they used ‘A Thousand Years,’ because I absolutely love that song, though the cover didn’t have quite the same effect on me as it did in the final scene on Breaking Dawn Part 2. ‘Let Me Love You’ was also brilliant and Jacob Artist knocked it out of the park. I’m still Team Ryder, but this performance was way better than Blake Jenner’s ‘I Only Have Eyes For You’ last week. When I read that they were doing ‘Love Song’ in this episode, I got really excited but then I kept reading and realized it wasn’t the famous ditty by The Cure. I did like the transition from the movie set into the song with the film’s pianist, but it just felt weird watching Rachel sing with Quinn and Santana instead of Brittany. ‘This is the New Year’ kind of creeped me out and reminded me of when they performed ‘Black or White’ in the ‘Michael’ episode. Did anyone else notice Tina all up on Ryder too?

I thought it was a good episode, definitely one I'd watch again. (those guys are SMOKIN') but I totally agree with you regarding the Rachel part. I'd fast forward too - until Santana and Quinn showed up at least. Seriously, the show soooo needs more Santana. I feel like the writers sort of tried to replace her sassy/bitchiness with Kitty, and it's just not working for me... at all. So I cannot WAIT 'til next week when Santana returns to McKinley High. (from the looks of the promo at least!)
Hmmm, I just noticed a similarity between this week's TVD and Glee episodes - they made me laugh....only TVD made me laugh with all the fan forums quotes and Glee made me laugh the moment I heard that NELLY SONG!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean, wow, sometimes I question the music Glee chooses to do, but this was so Glee season 1 when Will did that Sisco song, I believe....I seriously started laughing and enjoying that scene where they guys work out even more! It was hilarious!
Anyway, I kind of liked how they mashed up all the stories:
- Rachel and the shower dude need to come to an end because well, Kurt's face said it - I would have been pissed off too! Also if Rachel believes that growing up and moving with the first hot guy you see and agree to do a topless scene while you are still a first year student..then she needs some of that Santana bitchslap back to reality! Oh and how dare Brody say that Oscar winning actress went topless? That just proves the guy is an idiot. But whatever since I am glad Rachel came to her senses and realized that she is not ready for this yet and I don't think she should ever be really. Plus I agree with you on the "Torn" song - it did not fit the situation really. "Love Song" was good though!
- McKinley calendar shoot - amazing idea and loved how they did it!
- Tina was so funny with her Blain stanning!
P.S. I don't feel it when it comes to Marley and Jake - sorry, but what exactly is her infatuation with him based on? I honestly think she just got in way over her head and went from a simple crush to seeing him as Mr. Perfect in an instance. Also, why did they sing that "A thousand year's" song? This would have been more suitable for Finn and Rachel because as weird as they both are - their journey to being together was always so challenged and exciting that seeing how Jake and Marley make it look like all it took them is 11 episodes to figure it out is just ugh.
P.P. S Team Ryder!
P.P.P.S I thought Marley was poor...yet she seems to have more clothing than I do...kids whose parents works as janitors or lunch ladies, usually wear the same clothes most of the time and Marley seems to have a Blair Waldorf collection of headbands.
that wasn't Tina... it was Wade/Unique rubbing up against Ryder.
Wait wait wait....I'm confused. If the Warblers cheated, how does their disqualification get the ALSO DISQUALIFIED New Directions back in the competition??Doesn't make sense...
Whoa.. you're right. Hadn't even thought about that. It wasn't like New Directions came in second, they didn't even place. LOL.
Team Jake ! Ryder can't even dance and sing, and his catfish storyline was useless and annoying
