JPK: You know, I think that, in my opinion, if I were a viewer watching the show, having read the script, and the way I think of those characters it’s like, the reason that Max never took that help from Eleanor, part of it was she was so angry with her because she felt so incredibly betrayed. You can only feel that level of betrayal when you truly, truly love somebody. You don’t just stop loving them. You can be so angry with them and so disappointed in them and see a side of them but it doesn’t make you stop loving them. So I think really, Max still has feelings for Eleanor, even though she doesn’t want them. She wants them to go away and she’ll deny them to the end of the earth but it’ll be interesting. I think even if Eleanor knocked at the door with flowers and chocolates and said I’m sorry, take me back, I don’t necessarily think that Max would take her back. But the point is that there’s still feelings there. And I think they very much come from both sides but both women are so incredibly stubborn and strong headed that I don’t know how much room there is for them to come back together, at least romantically. It’s hard to say. But I definitely feel like they both have feelings for each other that are still very much there.
MM: I think you’re kind of the voice of the fans, so to speak. So now, what is something that Max isn’t already doing that you’d like to see her do on the show. A dream scene if you will, maybe a fight scene or maybe something like that.
JPK: Oh my God. I want her to fight so badly. I’ve gone to the producers so many times and been like I’m ready to kill somebody. I want to kill somebody. I want to wear a sexy garter and I want to have a knife in there and I want to be able to pull it out and just stab some mangy pirate who’s done a horrible thing. I definitely wish that Max, ultimately, I’d love to see Max become like a really cool, sexy, conniving pirate. I doubt that would ever happen in a million years but for me that would be the most fun thing to play ever. I’m going to have to write a spin off for Max where boom she’s a pirate, she’s a killer, she’s a badass. I just think that would be so much fun just because I get so jealous of all the guys and of Clara, who’s playing Bonny who get to do these wicked fight scenes and are constantly in fight training and are really physically tough. I thrive on doing that kind of stuff. I love being really physical. So for me, I just sit and watch everyone with very envious, jealous, squinty eyes. I would love to see Max do something cool like that.
MM: That would be awesome. You guys are obviously filing in Cape Town. Can you talk about what that experience is like and what you do during your down time?
JPK: Cape Town is incredibly beautiful. It’s very much a holiday sitting and it’s got this amazing mountain that just sits in the middle of the city that just takes your breath away. It’s probably as far away from home as I could possibly get so it’s a little bit difficult being out here six and seven months at a time, being away from family and friends but most of us have people come and visit. We try to have visitors all the time so there are people here keeping us company. It’s beautiful. We could be filming in so many awful places. We got so incredibly lucky that we got somewhere beautiful and easy with amazing food. We all have our own apartments but we all live in this apartment complex together sort of like that TV show, Melrose Place or something. We’re just all together but we’re all really close and we all really love each other and we all get along. We haven’t had a fight ever in the two years we’ve been doing this. We’re really lucky. What do we do in our down time? We eat out a lot because food is amazing here and it’s really, really inexpensive so we eat out tons. And we just try to barbecue for each other and have little events for each other and try to get out of the house as much as possible but we’re also really, really busy on set. I’m fostering a little puppy right now, that I named Anchor who is like the coolest boy of all time. He’s eight weeks old so he’s keeping me incredibly busy. So there’s work and then Anchor and that’s all I do right now is spend my time with him. I’m looking for a happy family for him to get adopted into so maybe someone in Cape Town will want to do that.
MM: So I was trying to hold back, but since this interview has been a long time in the making, I’d be reprimanded by the fans if I didn’t throw in a Secret Circle question for good measure.
JPK: Oh you must throw in a Secret Circle question. Do it.
MM: So we’ll do an easy one. What was your favorite part about working on the Secret Circle and would you like to do another supernatural type show or movie down the road?
JPK: I am open to every kind of genre of TV and movies. I’d be more than happy to do some other kind of supernatural thing down the road. I feel like it’s funny because early in my career, I did a lot of supernatural stuff being on Smallville, and The Secret Circle and V, and I did a ridiculous movie called Behemoth. There’s been a lot of supernatural-ness in my early career. I don’t think you can over saturate yourself with something you enjoy so I’d definitely be open to that in the future. Secret Circle was such a special time for me. That was a huge part of my introduction into the world of massive fan base, and getting twitter followers, and knowing that people are watching you every week and enjoying what you’re doing. It was just so much fun. I miss it all of the time. It was great. We were all living in Vancouver together and driving to work every day. It was the same thing. The six of us were ridiculously close and constantly together, even more than I am with this cast and we were just in our early twenties and having a lot of fun and we were really tight. I miss every moment of that. It was so much fun working with each other and laughing. I think what I miss more than anything is Thomas Dekker. He makes you laugh constantly. He is just constantly joking on set. He would make the crew laugh, he would make us laugh. We could never keep it together if he was on set. He is one of the most intelligent, funniest people I have ever met in my life. He’s a brilliant actor, incredible script writer and comedian. He’s just the best. So I would say working with Thomas is what I miss most because we laughed constantly, all day. Where as I find, as much as I love being on Black Sails, it’s such a behemoth of a show that we don’t have time for bloopers and we don’t have time to mess up. We just go and we have so much fun but you have to focus and get the work done, immediately, whereas Secret Circle we had a little bit more leeway to kind of relax and enjoy ourselves and laugh and make the crew laugh and then start again. It was an incredible, wonderful experience that I only have happy memories of. That’s why I’m with the fans like let’s make a Secret Circle movie. I’m so ready. I miss everybody and I want to make the fans happy because I know they would love it. Even in Cape Town, I’ll be in the mall and people will be like “oh my God, you’re that girl from Secret Circle.” It was such a world wide TV show. One season of this show reached out to so many different countries and so many different people and to still have people on twitter saying like “is it over? Is it really over? Can you make a movie?” I’d totally be up for a Secret Circle movie. So you can officially say that. I’m ready.
MM: Wonderful, yes. We know the fans are always petitioning to get a Secret Cirlce movie made. So hopefully it will eventually succeed because I think it has to happen.
JPK: You never know. People loved that show. Especially when it’s something that people, I think would want to see and I think they’d watch and hopefully enjoy. I just think that we should write it. I think the six of us should get together and we should write it. It would be really funny and actually really ridiculous and exciting and scary and sad. It would be the coolest if we got to write it.

Interesting that she describes Max as a "mother" figure; I got that impression too.
