Mystic Harbor 4: Melissa gets a house before Bonnie

NOTE: MY AUDIO CAME FROM MY LAPTOP’S BUILT-IN MIC SO IT SOUNDS WORSE THAN USUAL. I apologize.

In this episode, we talk about — surprise! — The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle. And it’s also one of the worst episodes of anything ever.

On TVD, Damon and Elena have a hot and heavy kiss before Rose gives a speech about why Damon is better than Stefan for Elena. And I have 30 seconds of thoughts about that, including “what’s the difference between these two brothers?” McKenzie offers quite an insightful answer to Rose’s speech…out of nowhere! Girl can think quick. We mention our love for Rebecca, but are saddened that none of the Originals will ever die.

Over on TSC, we think it’s almost painfully obvious that Diana was the Blackwell child, but we’re not complaining…since we both want to see Diana’s dark side. Also, we’re sad to admit we mostly laughed at Jane’s death. And lastly, we’re very much a fan of the Melissa and Adam pairing.

Hope you enjoy! This is one of the most disorganized podcast episodes in the history of podcasting.

  • I wanted it to be faye because we could have done a contrast on how black magic affects different personality types.. faye is a bad girl and cassie is a good girl.. we know cassie was scared and reluctant while we know faye would have not been so i think it would have been awesome to see the the different behaviours.. i am glad its diana bcs shelly hennig is amazing but at the same time i dont want to see two good girls struggle.. and i always felt like 1 girl from each team should have it.. like cassie out of her and diana team.. and faye out of her and melissa's team.. besides it would have been nice to see faye and cassie throw each other around..bcs i knew they were going to fight..and they could fling each other across walls.. if you get what i mean?

    • I understand that as a reason to want Faye to be TOBC (the other blackwell child) but I feel as though Faye is already kind of "dark" in a way, so the story wouldn't have gone that far, you know. Diana is a better choice because we can get to see her to do a complete 180 (if they make her tap into her dark magic). And plus, Diana and Cassie will probably fight too :D

      • Yeah they will go throw each other when Cassie finds out that Charles killed her mom and also maybe John killed Diana's mom. Big showdown!!

  • I don't want a super-tight/regimented podcast but come on!

Another great title. TSC was better than TVD I was the one who said that the last Faye/Blackwell scene should have been after the last Cassie/Diana scene. This way the reveal would be more surprising/stronger. It would also emphasize ambiguity in Faye not being a Blackwell. How can Elena feel safe with Stefan when he planned to turn her on Wickery Bridge? Does Bex like Matt more now that he killed Finn and Sage or does she just not care? On TVD, the only shower/bath used is Damon's (Damon, Katherine, Andy, Sage, and Rose? have bathed or showered) right? The only character I can remember eating is Caroline (chips and salad)  I think Damon and Stefan have come out of one of their bathrooms after having used it. Caroline said she had to use the bathroom once even though she didn't in order to escape Matt. This actually happened in a ridiculous 5 minutes ago flashback in 2x07, Masquerade.I think Caroline and Elena have the same teddy bear (literally). On TSC, Faye and Diana have taken a bath/shower although only Faye has actually been in a bath.Diana and Adam have eaten dessert.Diana's eaten pizza. I don't think anyone's used the bathroom

    • Yeah, it was the most disorganized thing I've ever done. We were trying to wrap up quickly so decided to 'wing it'…which never works. Anyway, first off, thank you for the rundown of eating/bathroom using. McKenzie will be most appreciative! And I knew I remember them eating at least one! YUS!

And second, is it bad if I completely forgot about Finn's death and what that would mean for Rebekah/Matt? It seems that the writers don't care about that either. Or perhaps, Rebekah doesn't know and she'll find out as they get closer together or something.

  • I didnt like 3x19, as not interested AT ALL in delena the ep was pretty useless and boring.
but i love your recaps, you are more entertaining than TVD at the moment hahaha. true story

    • Well thank you Tina! We'll take the compliment before TVD lure's you back to the dark side! ;)

  • I loved McKenzie's answer to Rose's speech! It's the only one which actually makes sense. They should have explained better what they meant by "he makes her question her life"... We're not qualified to judge this quote because if you're Delena, you'll judge in some way, but if you're Stelena, you'll judge in another way.
Jeremy was just flawless. And I think I'm the only one, but I actually like that Esther is in Rebekah's body. I want the Originals to die, but now is more than obvious they won't die... Well, I would prefer to Elijah and Rebekah live, but Klaus and Kol can die, I don't care.
    And I miss Katherine ):

About The Secret Circle, I love so much the last scene where Cassie tells Diana that she's her sister, so dramatic, lol. And I'm not disapointed it's Diana, and not Faye or Melissa. She'll finally have a storyline. Like, everyone talks about Melissa not having a storyline, but Diana doesn't have one too... (at least, not conting the uninteresting one, aka that australian guy). And we have seen neither Adam's house, nor his room, haha. It's not just Melissa who is homeless. It's weird but I always imagine her living in Jake's house, because there's the only place we've seen her sleeping and waking up, lol.

  • I'm late but Melissa had a house since like the 8th episode. In Balcoin, episode 9, I'm pretty sure that party was at her house. I remember her cousin helping Melissa and Diana set up for it.
