Hello, PLL fans. First of all, sorry I’m late with the recap. I was only able to watch it by Thursday and then on Friday I got sick, so I couldn’t finish it until now. This episode was good, right? I’ve heard that in 3.08 we’re gonna find out who the new A is and I’m so rooting for that. Because if they don’t change this “who is A?” storyline, it’s going to be the same as season 1 and season 2 and it will eventually get boring. To the episode!
The episode started with Hanna on the phone with her mom, the typical worried mother and daughter conversation. All was fine until Wilden knocked on her door. He asks if Hanna’s mom is home because he has to talk to her with a guardian present. He wants to test her blood to see if it matches the one in the bracelet because it doesn’t match Garrett’s and it’s O negative. They argue about it, he leaves, and there’s the intro. Then, the girls are walking down the street together talking about it. You can see Hanna’s really scared about it all but the other girls are sure she won’t be arrested. The subject changes to the Dilaurentis family and Spencer says she’s going to talk to Jason. But then it goes back to Hanna’s blood and Emily suggests that Spencer’s mom could block the court order. But Hanna is still worried. When Aria asks how is it possible that someone takes another person’s blood without the person knowing it, Hanna answers that Emily doesn’t remember a whole night. After that one I think any other argument is invalid.
Hanna leaves and the rest of the girls enter the coffee shop at which Emily’s been working. There, they meet Cece, a friend of Ali’s that they’ve never heard about before and that was a lot similar to Alison. They talk a little bit and it seems that Ali told everything about the girls to Cece. She tells her story— how she, Ali, and Jason spent two “intense” weeks together, but when Spencer asks why did she move back to Rosewood, she says she has to go. The second she leaves, the girls start to talk about how she was freakishly like Ali. Even I agree and I don’t pay a lot of attention to this kind of stuff.
Already at school, Ella is looking at a dress when Aria arrives to give her some bills. Then she tells her that she has a date, someone she met on the site Aria created a profile for her (I loved the episode she did this by the way). They talk about the guy and he seems ok. He even has hair! Ella asks if her dress is too much for a coffee shop but then she corrects herself wondering why is she asking this to Aria, since she wears forks as earings. I have to comment on this: I loved it. Aria jokes about scarves and then leaves. I’m loving their relationship this season; I hope it continues that way.
We move to Spencer who is outside school looking up Cece on her computer(?). I didn’t quite understand what she was doing but whatever. Toby arrives and asks why did she lie to him about the church party. Then she explains that she and Jason found the evidence that was turned in to the police and he assumes that she needed him away for the night. This was still a lie, but it was also somewhat true, so. Spencer seems sure that Garrett’s guilty but Toby says that there was a time that she thought that about him. Ouch. Then she has to go to class.
Meanwhile, Emily is working at the coffee shop (shouldn’t she go to class or something?) when Nate arrives. They talk and he asks if the candle he bought for Jenna is a good gift. Wait a sec. Like me, Emily asks why is he buying gifts for Jenna and he says they’ve got a date. Also, according to Jenna, she was a good friend of Emily’s, which is weird. Anyway, he asks for help and leaves. Emily goes into the coffee shop again.
As for Hanna, she and Aria go to Hanna’s house talking about Cece when the subject returns to her blood. They get to the kitchen and they see that game where you talk to spirits. Hanna holds the thing that shows the letters and sticks her finger. On the back of it there’s a note: “See how easy for me it is to get your blood? – A”. Oh noes! Hanna freaks out, asking if A was in there, if she has a key and stuff. Then she says that she buried the hand thing with Ali because she and Mona played it before they found Ali’s body. It had said that Ali was alive and then Hanna saw Alison. After the flashback, Aria says that Mona was A by then and hired someone to scare Hanna. They discuss who knows about it other than Mona and decide that Aria is going to visit her. Then, someone throws a flower vase at Hanna’s door and it’s decided that Hanna is sleeping at Aria’s. Smart decision.
We move to Jason who was jogging until Spencer called him. I love their brother and sister relationship, by the way. They talk and it’s obvious that Jason is not ok with what happened but he doesn’t blame Spencer. Then we find out that Jason’s dad is coming back to town and Jason says that he’s done looking for answers. The subject changes to Cece and Jason says that everything with her is intense. Apparently, there’s no other word to describe her. After a little more talking, Jason leaves.
Meanwhile, Cece is helping Nate and Emily on buying a gift for Jenna but Intense Girl soon realizes that Emily doesn’t like the person and that she’s the girl with a crush on Alison. Nate calls Emily and kind of flirts with her but Cece returns and the scene cuts to Ella entering the coffee shop. That coffee shop is now the PLL‘s Mystic Grill, I see. As Ella waits for her date, she talks with the owner and he’s pretty fun. I sensed flirtation and chemistry, different from Ashley and Ted. With them, there was flirtation but it wasn’t fun. Speaking of which, guess who is Ella’s date?! They present themselves and go out. As her mom is having a date, Aria is entering the insane asylum. I love that there’s another mention to her earings. Then the nurse takes her to Mona but the visit has to be supervised and Mona asks if she wants to play a game.
Hanna is on the phone with Spencer asking about the court order and then they meet. Spencer assures her that a try for her mom is a victory and they talk about Aria. Then Alison’s dad arrives and they talk about him and how Hanna shouldn’t believe in everything Wilden says. She still seemed worried, though. In the coffee shop, Emily tells Nate that Jenna had dated Garrett but he doesn’t understand what she meant and seems to like Jenna more. Meanwhile, Ella seems to be bothered by something on her date. Back to Hanna, she goes up to Ali’s dad and says she sorry. He seemed to blame her for something, she knew what he was talking about and seemed really sorry about it. But what happened?
After building card castles, Aria says that Hanna couldn’t make it and Mona asks the nurse her medicine. Then there’s the real talk. Aria explains what’s happening and Mona says that it’s not her that’s doing this to them. She leaves with a “tell Hanna I’m sorry” because visiting hours were over. Aria also leaves only to find Hanna at the door. After a little arguing, they decide to break into the place, together.
We move to Emily, who meets Cece again in the street. They talk about Nate and then Cece takes Emily’s phone to give her her number and asks about Jason while taking Jenna’s number instead of writing hers. Then she calls Jenna and pretends to be Nate’s girlfriend so that they wouldn’t date anymore. Ok, I must admit that after this scene my love for Cece grew. Girl’s got attitude. And I laughed at “she used to be blind”. It was wrong, I know, but still.
After that touching phone call, we see Ella entering the coffee shop, this time looking for Emily but she isn’t there. The owner is, though, and they totally flirt. His name is Zack and looks like Hot Mama’s got a second date. Meanwhile, her daughter is breaking into the madhouse with Hanna. Hanna goes into Mona’s room and once again she talks about Ali’s dad never forgiving her. Then Aria comes in saying that a nurse is coming and telling Mona to give Hanna answers but then Mona starts to be like “does she know about that day?” and so Hanna explains that after she saw Alison, she told Mrs. Dilaurentis that she was alive but three days later her body was found. As they talked about it, Mona vanished.
As for Spencer, she was simply driving home when a drunk Jason hit a car in front of her so she entered his car and drove him somewhere, probably his house. Then we move back to the girls, looking for Mona. They finally find her in a wing dedicated for children that was super creepy. And back to Spencer, she gets home to a worried Toby. She tries to explain what happened but Wilden (who has perfect timing, by the way) arrives with other cops, acting like they’ve recovered her car but she didn’t report it being stolen. Toby then puts up an act so she wouldn’t get in trouble, pretending that she didn’t know. Then she tells Toby what happened but he seems worried about the fact that he lied to the police. If I were him, I’d be too but Spencer asked him not to tell anyone.
Hanna and Aria finally find Mona brushing a doll’s hair (I’m still traumatized with dolls because of this show) but she doesn’t make sense, talking random weird phrases. Then the girls hear a nurse coming and hide. The nurse takes her back to her room and Hanna and Aria were left with the “I saw Lucas” expression. Then Ella calls Aria and they joke about she having two dates in one day and scarves. Aria tells Ella to go to sleep and goes to sleep herself with Hanna right beside her. We quickly cut to Emily walking on the street and seeing Nate with his gift on a restaurant, alone. Then we cut back to Hanna, who can’t sleep thinking about what Mona said. The girls get together and Hanna explains the code she and Mona had. They find out that Mona was trying to say “not safe” and the name of a website that apparently belonged to Maya. They can’t see the site, though, because it required a password. Aria asks if it’s Mona who is not safe or if it’s them and the episode ends with A taking a recorder from the room where Aria and Hanna met Mona.
That was it, liars. A good episode, especially knowing that next episode we’ll know who the new A is! See you next recap!
