I’m really disappointed in this week’s elimination. Nellie did not deserve her exit at all, they wanted her to shine and pop but was it really necessary to put her in the back of the group dance number? How was it possible for her to shine? I’m very frustrated, because I totally adore the show but their decisions seem too rash for me!

First, I’m going to talk a little about the show itself. Something that has been bugging me for a while now, and it was only confirmed this week by Nellie’s exit: Glee is about the underdog, or so they tell us. But how does one earn the status of underdog? Is it a sad story or is it your persona? As we get to know our contestants a little better, it becomes clear that most of them are not an underdog. Does being a muslim make you an underdog? No it does not! And I could go on and on about several kids in this competition, Nellie was one of the few who was really an underdog at some point and she gave a season 1 Glee-vibe. The rest are all regular people; I mean, I could also say that I’m an underdog because my family hates my red hair, my artistic side and taste in music, and makes fun of these things on a regular base but I’m not an underdog! The word “underdog” has been too frequently used by people who are definitely the opposite! Dani and Nellie were one of the few who really embodied the underdog status and they’re gone! Where is the logic in that? This week, Ryan chose Lily, a person who is clearly not an underdog, over Nellie because she shines more…OK, Damian was sort of an underdog and poof he’s gone! Samuel was everything except an underdog, and Ryan decided to keep Samuel for another season. Ugh these contradictions!

For the episode itself, I enjoyed it (until elimination obviously)! It was a decent hour of television. I have to say that I sort of missed Charlie, the whole group vibe was different with Lilly taking the group leader status. Lilly and Aylin really don’t like each other, and the whole tension is heightened with her stepping up as the leader. I didn’t like it either, Lilly is just always so over the top and attention seeking.

As for Grant Gustin, I must say I never even heard of this boy. For those who have been following my reviews, you know that I haven’t watched Glee since the end of the first season. So I didn’t get the fuss about Grant. And basically the first thing I did was youtube him. I like him, there’s something about Sebastian to love! He’s also very theatrical, but somehow I would have wanted for Jonathan Groff to show up. No one can deny the awesome-ness and theatricality of his character on Glee, so TGP make it happen!

For the homework assignment they had to do a Broadway number, which most of them never even heard of but they brought it well. I was really satisfied with how they performed “I Hope I Get It.” Ali won this assignment and it was well earned. She’s very theatrical and I loved her in this episode! Over to their song of the week, which was “When I Grow Up” by The Pussycat Dolls. Their idea of covering some of the most theatrical famous stars was good but the execution was just blah. It was still a very good video, if you let the story slide.

As always, some people struggled in the recording booth, this time Michael and Abraham again. It’s always the same people who are struggling there, and the same could be said on an acting. Lilly and Nellie have been struggling several times, while Lilly thinks she’s the next Naya Rivera. I didn’t think my dislike could increase, but unfortunately Lilly did it again. Wasn’t she terribly rude towards Ryan Murphy and the rest of the mentors? Oh God, she thinks she’s amazing! Sorry girl, but you bombed again in the acting division. By the way, Cindy Lauper isn’t that hard to portray!

Anyway, the mentors really liked almost every performance of the contestants so it was really hard for them to make a choice. In the end they complimented Blake, Ali, Aylin, and Shanna on their performances and kept the rest. Also, Shanna is being the perfect contestant, never has she been criticized and her work with that awful meatdress was really amazing.  I think that the winner won’t be anyone from the bottom four, they have been repeatingly criticized and will all be voted off week after week. This happened last year, and the mentors are sometimes so transparent that it hurts. They saved Michael due to his acting abilities and yeah because they all adore him.

Abraham and Nellie did a decent run with their respective songs. I didn’t adore it like Charlie’s last chance performance but it wasn’t bad at all. It was good. The one thing I hated about Abraham was his flattery. Ryan doesn’t seem like a person who needs this sort of thing from a contestant. Anyway, Lilly got a hard job with her song; “Someone Like You” has been covered multiple times, and I hated it almost every time! Adele does just such a good job, and Lilly doesn’t compare to her at any level. How rude was she? It surely gave her another chance in the competition, but it was such inappropriate behavior. She’s not the one we should be rooting for, and I never hated a contestant so much. I have a feeling Nellie couldn’t be herself in this competition, they always urged her to be somebody else. Someone sexy, someone that pops, someone cool! But that’s not who she is, and that’s not what Glee is about. This isn’t a talent competition to seek the next underdog for their show, they’re looking for the next heartthrob or rockstar! That’s a shame, ’cause this show is actually pretty good!

One thing I would like to point out is Zach and his emotions during their last chance performances! It’s so funny, he’s very emotional during every single performance. It’s not only this week, but this has been happening over and over again! This is one of the most enjoyable parts of this show, seriously Zach is great!

For “Tenacity” they will be covering “Eye Of The Tiger” and here’s their music video! I’m not liking this, although you’ll have to keep in mind that this video is a one-shot video! So all the things had to be right in one take!

Did any of the American Horror Story fans catch Ryan’s reaction when Abraham mentioned Adam Levine? If I were Abraham, I would be sitting here like “You sneaky bastard!”
