About half a year ago we did this weekly posts where we highlighted some of our favorite scenes from the past week. And then we just stopped. However, we decided we’d like to bring them back. Without further adieu, here are our top scenes this week in no particular order.
Breaking Bad | My top scene was by far and away Skyler’s confrontation with Walt on Breaking Bad. It was so cold and chilling. She is so scared, but she isn’t letting her fear consume her. She’s channeling it into justifiable anger. She feels trapped, but she isn’t just going to lie down and take it like a wounded animal. I have never had television-induced goosebumps like I have when she told him that she was just waiting for the cancer to come back. Then at the end, she’s just sitting there smoking in the dark, exhaling smoke out into the house like she is trying to speed things along. I was neutral about Skyler in the first few seasons, but these days, she is one of my favorite characters, and I’m hoping that if Walt dies of unnatural causes, she is involved in it. Anna Gunn has been stellar this season, and that scene just affected me on so many different levels. Flawless show remains flawless. —Heather
- Dallas | This show is always so twisty and fun but the absolutely, most root-able moment of the series perhaps was when Ann (who is absolutely the most boss character on TV right now) made pretend she was going to sleep with her ex-husband…only to be wearing a wire. “The next time you want to give me a hug, you’ll be huggin’ the business end of my shotgun.” Dang. Is it weird that I find her threatening one-liners crazy attractive? —Michael
- Political Animals | Sebastian Stan was incredible on Political Animals this week. The scene where his mother confronted him about his affair with the congressman and his reaction to her was so emotional and great to watch. —Samantha
- Pretty Little Liars | Sebastian Stan was totally incredible this week on Political Animals. But for the sake of variety I’ll go with Spencer versus Jenna in Truth on Pretty Little Liars. That was one heated game! —Leigh
Since I’m only watching Pretty Little Liars these days, I’m with Leigh. Spencer and Jenna’s truth or dare game was awesome. I thought the room was going to explode with tension. —Camila Teen Wolf | The opening scene between Stiles and the school counselor. Beautifully shot, written, and performed, it revealed the hidden inner turmoil of the program’s comic relief. Dylan O’Brien to cemented his fate as a future award winner. —Lindsay
- Teen Wolf | My Teen Wolf pick is the scene where Deaton shows Isaac that he can use his powers to relieve pain in animals. Though it’s less dramatic than the recap of the culmination of last week’s events, I think it’s much more emotionally powerful in its simplicity. When Scott lets him know that it’s ok to cry, Isaac is more than just a misfit and for the first time, he’s actually aligned with the fight for good, though he doesn’t realize it yet. —Rae
- True Blood | The scene when Eric, Nora, and Molly are just about to escape, only waiting for Bill when he comes in, armed with Salome and a bunch of The Authority’s stormtroopers. Eric calling him a traitor and Bill telling him this was only for his own good was very exciting and unexpected. I knew Bill had been sipping the Lillith koolaid, but this revealed just how hooked he was on it. —Sovanna
True Blood | The new couple of Steve Newlin and Russell Edgington were able to share a moment that was all about the sort of twisted romances that are this show’s bread and butter. The stroll they shared to the werewolf pack’s barn had back-story from both characters, the chemistry between Denis O’Hare and Michael Mcmillian that makes this strange pairing work so well, and a promise made from Russell to Steve that ensured no matter what happens this season — these two are in it for the long haul. It was a refreshing moment for a show that loves to tease its slash pairings without often doing a whole hell of a lot with them. —Keysh
