The season premiere of Hart of Dixie picked up right where we left off: next to Wade’s washboard abs.
As Lavon put it, Zoe went from no guys to 2 guys in one night. Girl got game! After an amazingly awkward encounter with George in the kitchen, that could’ve been horrible but was actually hilarious, Zoe had a decision to make.
Good thing she finally made a new girlfriend, Ruby, even if Lavon has some serious history with the newcomer. Then again, so does Lemon. Interesting, I wonder if Ruby and Lemon know they have both slept with the same man? Things will really heat up if that comes into play!
Zoe’s romantic entanglements combined with Lemon’s imminent breakdown made for a really great welcome back episode.
First things first, George’s “choose me” speech was soooo Grey’s Anatomy “choose me, pick me, love me” but I loved it anyway. I don’t “ship” either way and am a huge fan of both actors. Ultimately Zoe made the right choice, the same one Kelly Taylor made back in the day on 90210, herself. Getting with a guy the day after he got out of a 15-year relationship would be a disaster.
It’s funny that Zoe actually came to her conclusion not through the help of a girlfriend but through the help of her enemy. Last season, Lemon was uptight and bitchy and not really in a fun way. Tuesday night, I found her endearing. She had some great lines and I see a lot of potential growth for her character.
All in all, a great premiere. Can’t wait to see more! How about you?

Easily my favorite part of this episode was Lemon, which is funny because she annoyed me so much at the beginning of last season. I loved how this character who is usually SO confident and self-assured suddenly realized that she had based all of that confidence on the assumption that a man - her father or husband - would be there to take care of her. Her panic attack was so believable and her vulnerability and desire to become independent was awesome. I hope we continue to see a lot of development from her, working at a restaurant and getting out on her own. Hopefully she becomes even stronger and more self-assured (and still a bitch :)), but also maybe a tiny bit more compassionate.
Wade is so freaking frustrating. Still, it makes sense that, knowing he's up against George, he would throw emotional walls up. He already thinks little of himself and I'm sure there's no doubt in his mind that Zoe would pick George. This is why Wade is a more interesting character. He sells himself short all the time but at the end of the day he has a great heart. I hope we see a lot of character growth from him too.
Stuff I liked: Zoe and Lavon's friendship, Jamie King's acting, Zoey and Lemon's heart to heart, and the scene where Lemon and Wade talked at the end. I love them interacting, I think he brings out a different side of her. Excited about that for next week. The fight scene was also funny. As well as the encounter in the kitchen.
Stuff I didn't like: well, I guess I felt sad about Zade. I told myself that no matter what the writers did, we Zade shippers would always have the season 1 finale. It was so beautiful, sweet and heart-warming, kind of had a "The Notebook" feel to it in a way. But I guess I still felt let down with this episode. I kind of felt like Zade was reduced to "really hot sex", and obviously Wade doesn't want to admit that he likes Zoe, but still, I felt a little sad. There will probably be a lot of heartbreak for Zade shippers to come. I really want Zade to be endgame, because Wade is really a good guy. He doesn't show off or boast or do good things in the public eye. Instead he'll do nice things for people without anyone knowing. And for me, that's even more wonderful. That he doesn't take credit, like George does.
Also I thought it was a bit pretentious of George to be like, "I called off my wedding for you so you should choose me"... I think George has this sense of entitlement somehow that doesn't always sit well with me.
Lemon, though, was amazing. She's such an inspiration to me.
