(Re)watch 2013: Which show should I watch and review next?

Last year, I asked this question and got the enormous gift of being able to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the first time from start to finish… and with passionate fans from the great community, to boot. (I also got to see Breaking Bad on my own, which was as well one of the best decisions ever.) And now I’m asking once again: which show should I watch for the first time this summer? Now, the choices are not limited to the ones pictured (FireflyFriday Night LightsThe Wire, and The X-Files). It can literally be any show that has ever been produced, provided I haven’t watched it before.

I’m ready to watch some iconic television that I have never watched before. But instead of being a complete hermit while doing so, I figured…since I have a TV blog…that I could share the experience with you guys — and we could both watch whichever series we choose TOGETHER!

The series I decide to watch and review/recap is up to you. So nominate the series (singular and plural) you would like to re/watch and have me recap/review below in the comments! Any series goes: past or present, local or international, just try to be considerate of how I’ll obtain these series. In short: please try to pick something that’s on Netflix. I’ll be constantly replying to veto any series in case I’ve seen it already. We’ll continue to vote (so look out for more posts) on it and begin watching at some point in May, which admittedly isn’t summer, but it’s like the beginning of TV summer.

    • People have been telling me to watch Misfits! And I'd watch Friends, but I'm trying to watch something new… and I'm like the BIGGEST Friends fan haha!

  • Firefly will take a day to watch but X-files has some girth and its so fun to see the bad early nineties fashion. I am currently rewatching it and am on season three! Also any brit show would be fab.

  • I'm on board with X-files. How about Veronica Mars? I haven't seen it, but am planning to so I can enjoy the new movie.

    • I LOVE Veronica Mars! I'm trying to watch a new series, though. However, I think someone on NWN is going to do a VM rewatch this summer regardless. And I'll take both FNL and X-Files as your recommendations :D

  • FIREFLY. It's the best show ever. And it'd be a very easy schedule with only 13 episodes and a movie. In my opinion, FNL is kind of overrated. I've never seen The Wire, and I've been meaning to check it out. That could be interesting, too.

  • Firefly and/or Friday Night Lights. (Those are the two shows I'm watching right now)

      • Angel the Series. A friend told me I should watch it simultaneously with Buffy, but y'know, whatever.

ALSO: If you can do a re-watch of Sex and the City and compare to what's happening/happened in The Carrie Diaries, that will be the height of comedy and I will thank you forever.

OR you can just watch Gossip Girl Acapulco.

  • Michael, have you ever written anything on Friends? If so I'd love to read those articles! As for the series re-watch my vote is for Friday Night Lights, which is a spectacular show I never expected to like because I hate football, lol. As for a show not listed above, have you ever watched Gilmore Girls? It's truly a gem.

    • I have not. Someone wrote about seasons one and two here on NWN, but I personally have not. That would be fun to write about. It was the first show I was actually a fan of, and it made me begin to love television.

I've watched a few Gilmore Girls episodes, but probably not enough to know anything. Haha!

  • Why not try Lost? Or have you seen it?

On the other hand, Friday Night Lights season 1 is superb, and I have no clue about american football...

    • I've seen two Lost episodes and could not get into it. I know everyone loves it, but I couldn't. I could try again, though.
