Talking about Big Brother this season is definitely not in the same light manner as seasons prior. The controversy has been magnified like never before — and tonight, CBS decided to respond.
And I don’t mean one of those mass-produced statements. Big Brother aired a bit of the hate speech remarks that has come out of the houseguests mouths this season. Prioritized among them is Aaryn, who was shown onscreen saying some discriminating things about Andy, Helen and Candice. GinaMarie was also featured. (Both houseguests have been fired by their employers; perhaps Big Brother thought all the damage that could have been made was already done.) Howard and Amanda were shown in the diary room declaring that they don’t agree with her attitude.
That said, we know that Amanda has said some homophobic things, too. We also know that other houseguests aren’t so innocent. But Big Brother has flipped the switch on Aaryn since Thursday’s episode. In that episode, the editing room decided to give her a more negative edit, but I didn’t think it would mirror the truth as much as it did tonight. I guess there’s nothing else to say but good on CBS and Big Brother and those who demanded they aired it. Now onward to the recap.
Slippery Slope
Big Brother brought the good ol’ slippery endurance competition out for the second Head of Household competition. Unfortunately for everyone else, Jeremy and Aaryn had the best strategy — not falling down a lot. I mean, Aaryn said that the strategy was to “not spill” anything, but … isn’t that kind of everyone’s strategy? I guess not falling down is everyone’s strategy, too, but they were all failing it.
At the end of it all, which is past an hour’s time, it comes down to either Aaryn and Jeremy or Andy and Elissa. They were honestly so neck and neck close that you could just feel half the house’s tension boiling on either side. In fact, both teams were playing to put the other ones up. But to Andy and Elissa’s discontent, Jeremy was able to scoop out the ball from the barbecue sauce and win it.
Except, he decides to give the HOH to Aaryn without even a game of rock, paper, scissors.
He figures he can be safe this week and still play for HOH next week. I guess that’s a solid plan, but mostly Jeremy the Big Brother 15 Villain is also on my radar. Then again, it’s fun when the antagonizers reign the house, too, right?
Avenging the Not-Boyfriend
“Who voted David out?” Aaryn asks as soon as she wins HOH. It turns out that she has the power to make four people have-nots this week — and she uses it on, basically, the same people as last week. Actual betrayers be damned!
“I didn’t vote out your boyfriend,” Candice says. “He’s not my boyfriend!” Aaryn snaps back like that makes this vendetta any more understandable.
Eventually, Aaryn makes Elissa, Helen, Andy and Candice have-nots. They all groan. It was quite expected.
The Moving Company is Made?
While sitting in their upright airplane seats, Candice and Helen beging making it all out. Basically, they’re incredibly intelligent. Candice figures that Nick — who is undeniably hard to read — has to be orchestrating some sort of secret alliance between the guys. She also figures Spencer must be in on it, since he suspiciously talked to her right before the live eviction. She is hesitant but eventually includes Howard in the list, too. And since Nick and Jeremy always have side chats, she’s definitely keen on them being at the top of the alliance.
“But how does Crae Crae fit in to all of this?” Ah, the pizza boy may have a fighting chance yet.
Nick, meanwhile, is doing all he can do to make sure no one knows he is part of a secret alliance. He acts shocked near GinaMarie in hopes that she’ll believe him. But then, when with Aaryn in the HOH room, she makes it public that she suspects him of some sneaking around — and then gives him a warning to sleep with one eye open as she might, well, attack his manhood. The Moving Company’s secret alliance may be crumbling at its deceiving foundation.
Nominations
Well this was no surprise.
Aaryn puts up Elissa and Helen because duh. Who else was she going to put up? Helen even tried to make a play at Aaryn so that they could be in an alliance in disguise. No one would know that they’re working together, and they could eventually put up each other’s friends so that there was no bad blood in respective alliances.
Even then, TMC wants Amanda out because they think she could divide the house. Unbeknownst to them, Candice is the one who has figured it all out.
But Aaryn says no way. She’s out for revenge since these people evicted her not-boyfriend. Helen and Elissa look as shocked as Helen and Elissa’s reactions to being nominated by Aaryn. It’s basically this face: -_-
Because, as I said, DUH. They must be hoping that America voted for them to win BBMVP, because right now it’s looking pretty slim.
