It’s actually not that huge. Or extreme. Or monumental. But with How I Met Your Mother on a hiatus until February 6th, it’s all we have. Spoiler time.
New Character Quinn

On February 13th, we’ll have to say hello to a new character. Her name is Quinn, she’s played by Becki Newton, and she’s more or less a female Barney. “My character will present a real challenge to Neil Patrick Harris and give him a run for his money. She kind of has Barney figured out before he even starts talking,” she states. And while she becomes a romantic interest for him, have hope Barney and Robin shippers, because Ted drops a Quinn-sized bomb on a love struck Barney.
Ted
Expect big developments in Ted in the coming episodes. As of this season, we haven’t seen much progress in the quest for his soul mate, but soon he’ll realize he’s in virtually the exact same place as he was in the beginning of the season. Ted and Marshall are married, Robin is no longer a possibility, and Barney’s still a playboy. He’s going to come up what he believes is an answer to the disinterest in marriage we’ve seen lately, and starting in February, we’ll see whether that answer is correct or not.
Marshall & Lily

Sorry viewers, but it looks like Marshall and Lily will be staying in their suburban house. Although in “46 Minutes” we already saw the effect on their move on Ted, Barney, and Robin, upcoming episodes reveal the couple realizing how isolated they are from their friends, their bar, and their former city. Along with a new arc, Marshall and Lily will also explore how the gang will stay together with their pregnancy. Bays states, “It’s a real identity crisis when there’s a baby on the way, and I think we’re going to kind of explore that,” he says. “And I think moving to the suburbs was part of that for Marshall and Lily, sort of them falling into this role that seems like what you have to do when you have a baby on the way. And it’s partly true but I think they’ll find some happy medium.” Their baby boy will be born in May,
In the Future
Expect to find out the identity of Barney’s bride in May. Expect for Mickey, Lily’s father, to be around long enough for a multi-episode arc. Expect Robin and Kevin to take some big steps. Expect for future Ted to never lie. Expect the face of the mother not to be cast yet. Expect for Quinn to complicate things. Expect nothing but awesomeness, as per usual.
