Bonnie thinks her mother can help them open the mysterious coffin. Elena accompanies her on a road trip to find her estranged mother, Abby Bennett, and Stefan tags along, only to be shot at when they get there. Meanwhile, Damon has yet another confrontation with Klaus, who demands he get the coffins, otherwise there will be blood to pay… Damon’s blood, to be specific.

Also, Tyler turns to Caroline’s dad, Bill, to help him overcome his sire bond with Klaus, but the tables might turn on him when Bill finds out that Tyler bit his daughter…

Elena helps Bonnie track down her mother, and Damon lets it slip that he and Elena have kissed, leaving both girls flabbergasted.
