Carrie Bradshaw is going back in time to 1984 and pulling out her leggings, wedged heeled shoes, and mini skirts. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are adapting the novel by Candance Bushnell The Carrie Diaries for the small screen, which tells the story of a teenaged Carrie before she landed in Manhattan, began writing for the New York Star, befriended Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte, and fell in love with Mr. Big. Star of Soul Sufer and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, AnnaSophia Robb will be stepping into the role, which has some very expensive shoes to fill.

Diaries will be a half-hour 13-15 episode season order, similar to the HBO series Sex and The City, and will air on Monday’s following 90210 starting January 2013.

In the clip below, we are introduced to Carrie (Robb) and her friends Maggie (Ellen Wong) and Lali (Kate Findlay), as well as her high school crush Sebastian (Austin Butler), and mentor Larissa (Freema Agyeman).

This has the potential to suck, but it could also be really good. Schwartz and Co. are known for producing hits after all. Despite Sarah Jessica Parker’s blessing, I still remain skeptical. What do you think? Sound off in the comments below!
