Yes, next week all of the big networks are announcing their new schedules, so it’s no wonder that their renewals/cancellations are rolling in. While some networks are awfully quiet about which one gets the boot, (I’m looking at you CW!) some are already spreading their pick-up joy!

FOX

At Fox, they’ve ordered five new series, three comedies and two dramas. As expected they’ve ordered the Mindy Kaling comedy, which is now called It’s Messy!, and the Kevin Williamson project The Following. (Aka Mastermind!)

The other two comedies are The Goodwin Games and Ben & Kate, this one used to have that awful name Ben is My Manny. One I did not expected to be in this is list, is The Mob Doctor. Yes The Mob Doctor is actually coming to Fox. I don’t know really if I’m happy with this. So that means no pickup for all of the other pilots, except one. Fox could pick-up Guilty post-upfronts, so we’ll have to wait a couple of weeks to be sure.

You don’t get to have pickups without some cancellations…Alcatraz and The Finder will not be returning for a second season! I really liked Alcatraz, so this is a bummer. Touch fans rejoice because this one is coming back y’all!

NBC

How do feel about comedies at NBC, because you will be getting at least six new comedies this year. NBC has picked up comedies 1600 Penn, Animal Practice, Save Me, Go On, Guys with Kids and Ryan Murphy’s The New Normal. NBC also picked up dramas Chicago Fire and Revolution. These drama’s will be joining Hannibal. NBC is also thinking about ordering a drama about pirates. Basically they’ve been ordering a lot of new series. I hope this is not bad news for their already airing series.

  • 1600 Penn: A comedy about a dysfunctional family living in The White House. Bill Pullman stars as the patriarch/ president. Jenna Elfman and Josh Gad also star.
  • Animal Practice: A house-like comedy only with animals. Weeds-star Justin Kirk plays the vet who loathes the owners of the animals he treats. Tyler Labine and Bobby Lee are co-starring. Also a funny thing: A monkeys gets the role of Dr. Zaius and is a series regular.

Check out this great promotional photo with their monkey!

  •  Save Me: A sitcom about a family with a broken marriage. The mother, played by Anne Heche, undergoes a transformation and thinks she is channeling God. Alexandra Breckenridge (True Blood, American Horror Story) also stars.
  • Go On: This one already got picked up in April and it marks the return of Matthew Perry to the network that made him so famous. Perry plays a grieving sportscaster who finds solace in the members of his group-therapy sessions.
  • Guys With Kids: Yes this exactly how it sounds, it revolves around three immature fathers with kids. Jesse Bradford, Anthony Anderson and Zach Cregger will be starring as the three fathers, this project is also produced by Jimmy Fallon.
  • The New Normal: This is the latest creation of Ryan Murphy, he really knows how to create new shows and I think this one is no exception. A gay couple, played by Justin Bartha and Andrew Rannells, hire a surrogate to help them have their baby. This one is described as a heartwarming comedy; this is actually the third series of Murphy’s that will be airing this year. (Other shows: Glee and American Horror Story.) NeNe Leakes has also landed a recurring role in this comedy.
  • Chicago Fire: This action-packed drama revolves around the fire department of Chicago. I think this is just Grey’s Anatomy-like but with firemen and women.  Anyway Vampire Diaries star Taylor Kinney and House star Jesse Spencer landed the two male leads. Plus the promotional castphoto looks really good.
  • Revolution: Another great drama, but I don’t know if this kind of genre-series is a good fit for NBC. This is a drama by the hands of J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke (Supernatural). In this adventure thriller, a family tries to reunite in a postapocalyptic American Landscape. In this world every piece of technology has mysteriously blacked out. This drama has also a stellar cast featuring Billy Burke, David Lyons, Giancarlo Esposito and more.
  • Hannibal: This was given the full season order a long time ago, and I couldn’t be happier. This series shows Lecter before everybody knew about his cannibalistic issues. He will help solve murders with Will Graham, a FBI-profiler. Graham, played by Hugh Dancy, is a really intelligent man so it’s no wonder that Graham will be the one who unmasks Lecter for who he really is. (Probably after several seasons, because creator Bryan Fuller has laid plans for a total of seven seasons!)

There is also some good news for the Law & Order: SVU fans, because the very long-running show has been renewed!

This is only the beginning of a very exiting week, concluding next thursday when USA Network and The CW will be announcing their schedules for 2012-2013!

Are you satisfied with their pickups? Or are you like me a little bit disappointed,  I really thought that El Jefe or Rebounding would make the cut. Or at least one of the spy dramas for Fox! If you were a vet, would you hire a monkey named Dr. Zaius?
