This week’s Continuum was all about though decisions. Baby or Kagame? Better future or murderer behind bars? Trusting your gut or trusting your technology? Where is the line between doing what is right and doing what you’re supposed to do? As always, this was a very good episode to a series that is slowly becoming one of my new favorite shows.
Oh man, I should note that these special effects on Continuum are very good, and they’re impressing me every episode over and over. The non-conventional filming, the transitions. Especially Kagame’s flashbacks, those were the best. Kiera’s flashback even convinced me that her loving husband, isn’t a total douchebag. (Don’t mind my bad giffing skills!)
Another dead guy showed up, this time a scientist who build a machine for creating ‘Clear energy’. But someone made his machine backfire and murdered the scientist. This time Liber8 had nothing to do with the dead guy, they were just cosy-ing up in their new home, which had a whole room of Cannabis plants. The slow motion fight sequences are also becoming a Continuum trademark. I can’t recall a fight sequence without slow motion, or explosions in slow motion for that matter. Anyway it was nice seeing the girls in action!
Since Alec heard the news of Kiera’s broken suit, he was trying to figure out a way to repair that thing. His dad had some theories, but Alec failed to get a positive result in his barn. Tiny question: how did Alec pay for all his equipment, ‘Hey mom, I need another screen for my hacking business!’. I’m sure there’s a logical explanation for these kind of things.
Carlos and Kiera had a little chat with the scientist’s assistant. I don’t know about you guys, but I knew immediately that this kid murdered the scientist or was an accomplice. This kid had an affair with his previous boss. She used to work with the dead scientist, but they had a fall-out and the dead scientist took all the patents for the machine. She was bummed and wanted revenge and all the data for the machine because the dead scientist was up to no good with the machine. The assistant took the blame for the murder and went to jail. Kiera knew he didn’t act alone and caught the woman just in time at the airport. Just to discover that this scientist would do great things in the future, she couldn’t arrest the scientist and decided on preserving the future instead of justice.
In the meanwhile, Kagama arrived in 2012 and ended up in the hospital. After his escape from the hospital, he went to a meditation place where he used to go in the future. In his flashbacks, we see a less violent Liber8 and what drove him to be more violent in the future. The government raided the place and took his wife and son, along with some other people. We don’t know for sure what exactly happened with his family, but I guess it’s nothing good..
It doesn’t take very long for everyone to know about Kagame’s arrival and it ends up with a confrontation between Kagame and Kiera. He does offer her a few points to think about. The rest of Liber8 also arrived on the scene and captured a mother and her baby, they offered Kiera a switch. Kagame for the mother and her baby. Of course Kiera saved the baby, but I can imagine it was very difficult for her. She finally had her hands on a man who killed thousands of people. Kagame is also very clear about his intentions, he wants to start a war!
Alec finally goes to visit Kiera in real life, but does that by breaking in her apartment. Smooth Alec! He confronts her with the harsh reality, if she’s willing to do everything for the preservation of the future. Isn’t she just like the rest of Liber8?
Also! Kellogg is helping his family, first he made sure he earned a lot of money and then paid his grandmother’s debt. It was kind of creepy actually, going shopping with his teen grandmother.. I guess he’s just the first of the time-travellers, who will try to help their families.
