This episode showed us a much wanted ‘real and softer’ side from Donovan Decker’s big boss Grey, and marks the return of the precious friendship we all came to love in the first episodes! At first, I didn’t really realize how much I’ve missed those moments between them. But oh boy, I did!
Beau, Grey’s ex-husband, moved on and engaged himself with some kind of designer. Jane’s mother read about it in the paper and decided to make an online dating profile for her, without Grey’s consent of course. For Kate, it seemed natural to do such things. She met her ex, boyfriend, friend(?) Dakota via an online dating profile and swears by its effectiveness.
At first, Jane decided to get rid of the account. Which took forever! How hard is it to delete an account, just click ‘delete’ Jane! Not that hard. Anyway, India heard about this online dating profile and her scheming behavior resurfaced. Earlier that morning, Jane and Grey ran into an aspiring designer who wanted Grey to work for her company. Unfortunately, nothing goes unnoticed by Donovan, who thought she was trying to jump companies! They could never meet with that designer again, or they would be both fired for good. So India set up a false date with that designer via Grey’s online account, and Grey shockingly agrees on this date with a supposingly good-looking and succesful man! It was a little strange that Grey would agree to go on a date with a total stranger, but maybe the engagement of her ex-husband changed her cold interior!
At school, Billy was all sorts of nervous. His short time girlfriend Zoë wanted him to meet her parents during a BBQ at her place. I really like Zoë, she surprised me in different occasions. She has a liking for acting and doesn’t feel ashamed to tell this to her ‘cool’ boyfriend. Which was another thing that bothered me somehow, the play. All the cool kids want in on this play, I mean it’s good that this isn’t a problem for the show. But for a jock to agree to play the lead in a play just after hearing he isn’t able to play baseball anymore, something went wrong there. Can Nick even act? Zoë has a passion for acting, she was driven. But Nick was so indifferent about it.
Later that day, Jane finds out India’s plan and wants to stop Grey from going to her date. Alas, the ‘beast’ breaks down and Jane & Billy are stranded somewhere in their village. There is no way Jane would arrive on time, so she texts Eli to help her out. In the meanwhile, she calls Kate to come and help them. At that exact same moment Dakota arrives in town and a reluctant Kate takes him along. Jane realizes that there’s no way that both Billy and she will make it on time. So she chooses Billy over her work, for the very first time in the show! Billy arrives on time and meets Zoë’s two dads! She’s a cooler Rachel Berry, Y’all!
Anyway, later that evening Jane deals with the fallout of not going to see Grey. As Eli wasn’t able to find her and thus helping Jane. It also seems like Jane isn’t very keen on her future date with Eli. Maybe it’s just me, but I think the two won’t even go on that freaking date! So, Grey calls Jane via video chat and reveals she wasn’t quite ready to go on another date but thanks Jane for the effort. The episode ends with Dakota proposing to Kate. We all know Kate will marry Dakota, and thus leaving Jane again! But will she leave on good terms? I think so.
I haven’t really talked about the Rita, Ben and Amanda love triangle. That’s because I didn’t really like it. Ben doesn’t like Amanda, everyone can see that. Amanda isn’t really a good character either, I cringe every time she opens her mouth. Get rid of her already along with Lulu!
