I finally have a reason to envy Jenna, because people actually are reading her blog instead of mine, even though they’re fictional people. I always feel like this show unfolds way too quickly and worry about what will remain for the final episodes (there are now only two left), but I’m really looking forward to the hypothetical episode next week, since I really enjoyed when Grey’s Anatomy and Switched at Birth (for one scene) did them.

This week, I went through a whirlwind of emotions over Lacey and Kevin. At first, when she drove Jenna to school and got chewed out by her daughter’s peers, I felt a sense of karmic justice, as though she was getting what she deserved for placing so much importance on what everyone thought of her and her family, which resulted in the letter. However, when Jenna came home to find her in tears over all the nasty phone calls she received that day, I honestly pitied her for the first time. There was no way Jenna could completely shut her out of her life, she’s not that heartless. Though Lacey’s not perfect, she’s still Jenna’s mom and Jenna will always love her.

I am so happy Kevin is back too! I’m usually really good at predicting what’s going to go down in a situation, but I was totally caught off guard when he stepped out of the shower with Lacey. During his heart-to-heart with Jenna, though I felt like he told us what we fans had already guessed about his past, I think it’s what Jenna needed to hear to push her towards reaching out to comfort Lacey, especially now that Val dumped her. I think their family is going to be stronger than ever for what they’ve gone through, though that doesn’t leave us much drama for next season.

My favorite comedic moments in this episode were when the other students started talking like Tamara, because that’s every faculty member’s worst nightmare. Speaking of teen-talk, can anyone explain what TIA is (from the scene where Sadie pulls down her oddly cut sweater to reveal her cold sore to Lissa, I’m assuming it’s an abbreviation)? And about the cold sore…I’m no doctor but what the heck is it if it’s not herpes? I think the writers could have stretched out Lissa’s impression of Sadie while on the phone with Sadie’s doctor for a better comedic effect, but who knows how funny it actually would have been.

Regarding faces, I thought Jake’s makeup was poorly executed in this episode. At first, I thought he had a cold sore too, then his face just looked dirty. Matty’s fake black eye was spot-on, though I still don’t understand how a movie could make them get over all the drama between them and Jenna, not to mention their own bromance. Then again, they are teenagers. I think Jenna’s final decision will be left for the finale, as it should be, because I have a hard time believing the fact that she’d dismiss both of them. Plus, a third love interest would just be so mentally exhausting for me to process. I actually have no idea who she’ll actually pick. If you‘ve been reading my Awkward. reviews, you know that I want Jenna to pick Matty but like Tamara stated this week, Jenna is definitely a wild card. Who do you think she’ll choose in the end?
