The Golden Globes has actually be one huge anticipated event for me, which is no surprise because comedy goddesses Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were hosting. That’s really the only reason, if I’m being frank. But regardless of that, the HFPA gives out some prestigious statues in our favorite category — television — and thus it’s almost imperative that we discuss the awards show, if just a tiny bit. I’m going to give my reactions about some of tonight’s events below, and please feel free to share yours in the comments section. I want to know what you thought!

ON TINA AND AMY | Are you kidding? Can Tina Fey and Amy Poehler just host everything from now on? The best part about Tina and Amy hosting, besides the fact that they have their ping pong comedic timing in tact, is that they were able to serve those hard-hitting jokes without anyone thinking they were being mean. “James Cameron is torturous!” “Taylor Swift, stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son!” Never change, Tina and Amy.

GIRLS UPSETS | I’m not even mad. I recently spent some time rewatching the entire first season of Girls to show to my sister (who ended up loving the series all the same), which just reinforced that I love the show. During the Golden Globes tonight, I checked out to watch the season two premiere and it just solidified the need for this show to win. What I love about the Golden Globes is that they tend to be very open to the newbies. I wouldn’t have been upset at Amy Poehler winning, obviously, but I loved that Lena took it too. All’s well.

DON CHEADLE’S WIN | I watched the House of Lies pilot… and that was enough. I was actually hoping for a Matt LeBlanc repeat, because it seems the Emmys does not want to recognize Episodes… or even Louis C.K. love for his acting.

HOMELAND STEALS | It wasn’t enough for them to take everything at the Emmys, they had to do it here as well. Damian and Claire are fantastic, there’s no denying that, so I won’t argue with their wins. But it’s about damn time that someone notices Breaking Bad (the show) for being the best thing on television, especially during a rocky season two for Homeland.

“YOU GET OUTTA HERE!” | I missed Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrel’s little riff, but oh, my goodness, it is the best of all time. Here it is:

Tommy Lee Jones’s face!

GAME CHANGE | Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Jonathan continues to win awards and that’s the best thing ever!

ARGO | We don’t really talk about movies here (even though we’re beginning to a bit), but I’d just like to say that I’m glad that Argo took it home tonight. Take that, Oscars!

THAT SPEECH (and everything else) | I’d just like to thank Jodie Foster and the NBC censors for creating the most incomprehensible speech ever. I would also like to thank Glenn Close for being the future best GIF ever. In fact, if I look through tumblr, I’m sure I can find it. Be right back.

Toldja! Thanks to branaghing on tumblr.

All right, now it’s your turn. What did you think of this year’s outing? And did you think the winners deserved the awards? Sound off below!
