New Picture (5)This week on Catfish: The TV Show Nev & Max met up with Jesse, who has been talking to Brian for 3 years and is contemplating moving all the way from Pennsylvania to Alabama to be with him.  When they first speak to her, Nev, the little awkward bunny that he is, complements the girl on her teeth, of all things. Jesse tells them that she attempted to meet up with Brian once in North Carolina, but he never showed even after she drove all the way there because he got into some sort of legal trouble. Seems sketchyyyy.

However, that incident wasn’t enough to stop Jesse’s pursuit of this guy and now that he has asked her to move by him she really thinks it is about time they met in real life.  Nev & Max are interested, especially because Jesse and Brian actually have a real life friend in common who has definitely met both of them in real life.

Nev & Max do their detective work and everything on his Facebook page seems legit.  Even the mug shot looking things he has posted from his potential time in Juvie.  The guys discover that his real first name is Robert and that on the day he was supposed to meet Jesse he got arrested for possessing a weapon of mass destruction (!). Nev & Max are blown away and really want to know WHAT he was carrying on him, although they are impressed that he has so far been telling mostly the truth.

They meet up with Fran, who is the mutual friend of Jesse and Brian.  He vouches for Brian, who he served in the military with and who he lived with at the time that Brian was supposed to meet up with Jesse.  Fran knew that Brian had been arrested, but he didn’t know anything about why he was arrested, although he confirms he never went to jail and kept his job and he continuously maintains that Brian is a good guy.

Nev & Max share all their findings with Jesse and express their concern for her safety should she move in with Brian.  After they give her all the details, Nev goes to call Brian in order to convince him to do a meet up so he could explain himself.  He agrees, of course, and Jesse and the boys fly out the very next morning to go meet him.

Once they are in Alabama, Jesse starts getting really nervous and hesitant about meeting Brian, but Nev & Max didn’t come all this way for nothing! They pull up at Brian’s trailer (yes, you read that right) and Jess is very, very nervous.  Nev knocks on the door in a protective gesture.  Not sure how he’ll protect anyone from a WMD, but his chivalry is noted.  But instead of a monster, a friendly man in a bright yellow polo shirt steps out and Jesse is swept up into his arms.

Nev is initially optimistic, but obviously he and Max won’t let them leave without an explanation about the whole arrest thing.  Brian tells them that he was coming to meet her from a rifle range and he had a PTSD moment when he stopped at a gas station. A concerned onlooker called the cops and since he had a sawed off shotgun (perfectly acceptable in Alabama, but not so much in North Carolina) he was arrested for having a weapon of mass destruction.  Brian says that he didn’t tell Jesse the whole story because he was embarrassed and confused by his PTSD, but he is doing much better now.  He also drops the bomb that he was technically still legally married when he went to meet Jesse the first time, but he had filed for divorce long before that and he is completely single now.  Jesse feels like this was a little shady, but she is still opening to being with him and Nev and Max leave her to spend the afternoon alone with her guy (and apparently for the first time ever there was sex during a Catfish meet up!).

The next day Brian takes Jesse and the boys to meet his family. The barbeque and fish and Nev and Max have a heart to hearts with Brian and Jesse, respectively. Both kids are still really into the relationship and don’t want to say good-bye.  Boy, all signs sure are pointing to our second success story of the season!

At the 2 month check-up, however, Jesse hasn’t moved down to Alabama yet, even though her and Brian are still working things out.  In fact, Jesse was planning to head on down to him that very night! Unfortunately, just 2 days after arriving in Alabama she realized they weren’t right for each other and left.  What a tease!! I thought this was another love connection until the very last minute! Ugh, Nev! Don’t get our hopes up like that! Especially now that we know true love CAN be found via Catfishing!
