If you’ve never watched Chuck and you have Netflix: congratulations, you have the ability to watch one of television’s fine, little-known series — and my absolute favorite show of all time.
However, if you’re watching for the first time, you might not know that two season two episodes aired out of order. President Obama preempted television on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009. Meanwhile, NBC had scheduled a Valentine’s Day-themed episode of Chuck (“Chuck vs the Suburbs”) on Feb. 16. As such, it aired “Suburbs” then anyway and decided to air the preempted episode the following week, which threw the narrative all out of whack.
However, this issue has never been corrected. Not on DVDs and blu-rays. And when the series came to Netflix, I thought it would finally be corrected. Not so. So if you’re watching on Netflix (or any other medium, really), here is the correct order of episodes:
Season 2, Episode 12 – “Chuck versus the Third Dimension”
Season 2, Episode 14 – “Chuck versus the Best Friend”
Season 2, Episode 13 – “Chuck versus the Suburbs”
Season 2, Episode 15 – “Chuck versus the Beefcake”
It’s awful that with every medium, this has to be noted. Kind of laborious. But trust me, you’re going to want to watch in that order. The narrative will not make sense if you watch in the order the episodes aired.
Now go on, happy Chuck watchin’!
