Last night’s episode of The Big Bang Theory was sad, just sad. I say that because I literally cried by the end of it. Silly, huh? Crying over The Big Bang Theory. But it’s true. This episode was a true reminder that both Leonard and Sheldon are jerks, but only one of them pulls it off adorably and that’s Sheldon. I felt so sorry for Sheldon all through the episode and just wanted to punch Leonard in the face. Ugh.

The episode starts with Sheldon waking Leonard for a once-in-a-quarter emergency drill. He’s Sheldon; what do you expect? The next day Sheldon asks orders Leonard to take him to the dentists’ but Leonard refuses and asks that that the roommate agreement becomes null. Of course that infuriates Sheldon who tells Leonard that they would no longer be friends. Leonard is thrilled with the idea. (And I start hating him at that very moment.)

During the episode, Sheldon tries uselessly to lure Leonard into re-signing the roommate agreement because that’s how he believes friendship is, signing a contract. In one scene, he puts the power out to prove that Leonard needs him in such “emergencies”. Leonard decides to spend time with Penny, instead, during the power outage.

Penny tells Leonard that Sheldon just “misses his little buddy” and guilts him into talking to Sheldon. Sheldon and Leonard agree that Leonard does everything Sheldon wants with one change: Leonard’s day, a day to celebrate the contributions Leonard offers to Sheldon’s life. Of course, on that day he’s not allowed to sit on Sheldon’s couch or control the thermostat. The only perk would be that he gets a card. Ha.

I LOVE SHELDON. And in this episode, I loved him even more. I don’t care if he’s an ass. I don’t care if he’s a 30 year old who doesn’t know how to live on his own. I really really don’t. He has a gigantic heart, but he just doesn’t know how to show it.

Meanwhile, NASA releases a statement with the names of who are traveling to space in the spring, Howard included. However, since he’s traveling to space, he needs a space-y nickname. He can’t choose his nickname, the other astronauts usually choose it for him, but he wants to make sure that they don’t pick a bad one. So he puts “Rocketman” as his ringtone and asks Raj to call him during his video conference with NASA. Raj does it, and the guy from NASA (played by real-life astronaut Mike Massimino) is impressed with the ringtone. But then his mother shouts at Howard asking him to come down and eat because his fruit loops are becoming soggy. And that’s how he gains the nickname: Fruitloops.

It was an entertaining storyline, but it was very light compared to Sheldon’s. The episode, though, was not bad. It’s not one of the best, but it’s also not one of the worst.
