Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series
Eliza Coupe, Happy Endings
Eliza Coupe is tragically unrecognized for her amazing role as the hilarious and frightening neurotic Jane on this show. This season, we found out that not only does Jane know exactly how to improve her friends, she has charts with outlines of their bodies, pinpointing every aspect that can be targeted, ready to be pulled down from her living room ceiling any moment someone comes to their senses and comes to her for help.
Jemima Kirke, Girls
We have to agree that Zosia Mamet has brought Shoshanna to life, but Jemima Kirke acts the hell out of Jessa on Girls every week. It’s like she’s not even acting, which is the most rewarding part.
Jane Krakowski, 30 Rock
Jane Krakowski continued to be Jenna like a freakin’ pro (well, because she is). Listen, anyone who can make us laugh and cry at “The Rural Juror” song deserves ALL of the awards.
Jillian Rose Reed, Awkward.
Word around town is that Jillian Rose Reed does not submit herself into the Emmys, but we wish that she would. Other than Max Greenfield, is there an actor who is putting this much hyper-energy into a character? Rose Reed handles Tamara naturally, with comedic ability that you can only be born with. So in our dreams, she’s a nominee.
Jessica Walter, Arrested Development
Tell us you’re not already laughing at that image. It’s been years and yet Jessica Walter slipped into her role as Lucile Bluth (1) with such ease. Stand back and watch the professionals do their things. The professional being Walter of course.
Casey Wilson, Happy Endings
Casey Wilson plays the upbeat, romantic, and perpetually single Penny Hartz with so much energy and earnestness that it’s impossible not to fall in love with her. She pulls of her character’s particular way of speaking so perfectly that you’ll find yourself using Penny Hartz vernacular such as “AH-MAH-ZING” and “SUH CUYTH” nonironically as well.
Honorable Mention: Julie White, Go On
