Lead Actress in a Drama

Glenn Close, Damages

Four years down as the intimidating and stoic Patty Hewes, and Glenn Close continues to make her feel as dramatic and refreshing as ever. There’s a reason she’s won in this category before — and that’s because she completely deserves it.

Claire Danes, Homeland

Claire Danes. Are you really wondering why she’s on this list? Danes should be on EVERY list. In episode 11 of Homeland, her character, Carrie, went into a bipolar hysterical episode. And Danes KILLED it. That episode alone should get her an Emmy win. (Yes, I’m rooting for her come Emmy night.)

Juliana Margulies, The Good Wife

Juliana Margulies didn’t do anything special in this season of The Good Wife, but she was still the incredible Alicia Florick we’ve loved for two seasons.

Elisabeth Moss, Mad Men

As for Elizabeth Moss, she is one of those actresses that are MVPs in almost every episode they’re in. Sometimes she appears in an episode and says only one line and somehow the episode becomes all about her.

Madeleine Stowe, Revenge

Madeleine Stowe can perfect a scene without even speaking. She can just smile to the camera and she’ll give you shivers. Plus, I really want to see the Victoria side of her shine when Claire wins.

Kerry Washington, Scandal

Scandal is one of my favorite shows of the year. Why? Because of a BAMF called Karry Washington. We first thought she was a heartless workaholic but then she broke our hearts in every single scene she was in. She’s epic beyond words.

Honorable Mentions

Mary McCormack, In Plain Sight
Anna Torv, Fringe
